LCRA is looking for a Server and Storage Systems Engineer Sr. to join our team. This position applies in-depth knowledge of virtualization using unified compute, storage and network resources. You will serve as a key resource for ticket lifecycle, operational maintenance, and project implementation. The role will have the opportunity to work with Active Directory, Windows Server, Linux, Cisco UCS, Azure and NetApp, along with the tools needed to manage those infrastructure components.
The infrastructure team has varying responsibilities including the maintenance of existing systems, lifecycle management, developing infrastructure standards, project support, and solving issues. This position requires you to regularly takes a new perspective to tackle sophisticated problems with minimal guidance, both with the team and independently.
You will be trusted to:
• Perform complex operating system provisioning and administration including system patch management. Work with application users and data owners to maintain named user access controls within current security roles and coordinate systems life cycle events.
• Proactively monitor, analyze and review multi-platform computing environments and implement problem avoidance practices in order to maintain a high level of reliability and availability.
• Help design and document new deployments for company projects and infrastructure expansion
• Implement equipment using practical knowledge of DNS, LAN subnetting, basic routing principals, and follow change management procedures
• Resolve support issues
• Takes a leadership role in handling major incidents and problems through root cause analysis and effective communication among teams.
• Ensure backups are successful, tools current, and security risks are mitigated.
You qualify with:
• Nine or more years of experience in system configuration and/or operation, or other IT related field. A degree(s) in computer science, information technology or relevant field may be substituted per LCRA guidelines for certain years of experience.
You are a great fit with:
• Degree in computer science, information technology or relevant field
• Certification relevant to systems administration, storage or virtualization
• Ability to move at a quick pace and handle various tasks
• Quickly adapt and learn new technologies as needed
• Knowledge of WMware, Windows and Linux operating systems and administration
• Knowledge of unified compute platforms and SAN technologies
• Knowledge in scripting, cloud services and DevOps (Azure, GIT, CI/CD, PowerShell, Terraform)
• Skill in Active Directory, Linux administration, VMware
• Exposure to Cloud services provisioning, design and operation
• Skill in provisioning of storage related resources using protocols such as iSCSI, FCoE, CIFS and NFS
• Skill in analyzing and solving complex problems
• Ability to build relationships, cultivate collaboration and work in a team environment
