LCRA is looking for a Utility Safety Manager of the Safety Services Energy Generation Group to join our team. An ideal candidate for this role is a proven leader with the heart and actions of a servant leader that is honest, self-directed, self-motivated, and committed to a journey of learning and growing. We are looking for leaders that are transformational not transactional. Someone that will take ownership of the team members they are responsible for. As a part of the LCRA’s Safety Services leadership team you will work with Generation Operations leadership to provide continuous improvements in safety. We are a team that thrives on identifying practical safety solutions for our organization and are committed to improving safety processes within the LCRA organization. This role must possess the ability to work collaboratively with energy sector companies as well as governmental agencies to share and adopt best practices.

You will be trusted to:
• Provides leadership and direction to Safety Services Group Generation Team.
• Hires, trains, assigns work, evaluates, manages performance, determines compensation of subordinate staff in compliance with LCRA policy and handles all aspects of staff supervision.
• Provides safety consultation and serves as the lead safety and health resource for LCRA staff.
• Be an advisor/manager of a health and safety programs for a divisional team constructing and maintaining Utility Energy Generation infrastructure.
• Coaches, demonstrates, and assists in Safety Services Group Safety Management System activities.
• Reinforces safety standards, safe work procedures, specific safety rules, and regulations.
• Complete periodic job site visits by documenting observations and opportunities for improvement.
• Conduct, assist, advise, and review all safety related events; ensuring accuracy, completeness, and effectiveness laid out in incident reports and corrective actions.
• Assist in the development and implementation of a compliance plan for all programs required by the Safety Services Group & Generation Operations teams.
• Maintains documentation of the company's safety procedures, incidents and related events.
• Participate in business unit meetings and conference calls.
• Facilitates required operational and safety training in support of business unit needs.
• Provides guidance regarding worker’s compensation reporting and other safety reports.
• Develops, coordinates, and ensures timely provision of safety orientations, safety training, health training and monthly / quarterly safety meetings.
• Leads and performs safety and health inspections and audits.
• May assist with LCRA investigations of large-scale incidents.
• Serves as a key contributor to research, development and implementation of safety policies and procedures.
• Prepares health and safety plans for LCRA projects.
• Reviews and analyzes trends and deviations from LCRA policy and procedures.
• Prepares reports and makes recommendations regarding safety-related corrective actions.
• Maintains knowledge of industry standards and regulations.
• Makes recommendations regarding the adoption and implementation of new policies.
• Leads and coordinates the development and/or enhancements of internal safety manuals.

You qualify with:
• Twelve or more years of experience in energy generation, electric utility transmission/distribution operations, in an electric utility safety training or safety compliance role, or relevant experience. A degree(s) in industrial maintenance, instrumentation, controls, electrical systems, health and safety, education, or utility-related field may be substituted per LCRA guidelines for certain years of experience.
• Experience must include providing guidance, leadership or formal/informal instruction to transmission/distribution staff and two years' experience with OSHA 1910.269 Electric Power Generation, Transmission, and Distribution and applicable electric utility work practices and safety policies.
• Experience must include one year of leadership experience.
• A valid Driver’s license

• A safety designation from the following list, Certified Safety Professional, (CSP), Associate Safety Professional, (ASP), Certified Utility Safety Professional (CUSP), or the ability/eligibility to obtain within the first 2 years of hire.
