Summary

Save the Children is seeking an Advisor, Community Impact to support the delivery of Education, Hunger and Resilience programs in Kentucky. In this role, you will provide technical assistance to a team of Lead Associates implementing community engagement and food security programs in rural Kentucky. You will build capacity within the team and with partner organizations to ensure engagement activities are being implemented with maximum impact. In this role you will also coordinate recognition and media events in coordination with Save the Children’s Media and Communications team to increase visibility, recognize program supporters and prioritize collaboration opportunities. This includes working closely with the State Director to identify marketing opportunities to ensure the maximum amount of beneficiaries are served at events. The role requires a high level of discretion, attention to detail, organization, flexibility and accountability.

What You’ll Be Doing (Essential Duties)

Capacity Building and Technical Assistance (30%)
• Review Community Engagement plans with Lead Associates and provide guidance to increase impact
• Observe community events in rural communities and provide technical assistance and feedback to partner staff
• Oversee the coordination and planning of onsite and virtual partner staff trainings
• Review population level data to track the effectiveness of community-wide initiatives
• Develop action plans for underperforming program sites
• Collect data on community needs as related to kindergarten readiness and 3rd grade reading and 5th grade math proficiency

Media and Recognition Event Lead (50%)
• Develop strong inter-sectoral and multi-sectoral relationships at local community levels to increase collaboration of program implementation.
• Develop communication materials (newsletter, etc.) to share with partner staff and identify modes of delivery to reach all areas of a community
• Identify events to highlight in local news media markets and communicate plans to the Advisor, US News and Communications
• Oversee collection of and review success stories for accuracy and flow of information
• Lead on coordination of recognition and media events
• Compile list of Tier One collaboration partners

Management and Operational Excellence (20%)
• Work with State Director to oversee the state portfolio of Tier One community partners ensuring efficient and allowable use of funds.
• Provide regular, timely communication to State Director and other key team members as needed with progress updates, partner/program concerns, and other key areas of operation.
• Responsible for ensuring state staff and partners have access to strong knowledge management tools and resources needed for program implementation, data entry, monitoring, sharing practices, and managing daily operations.
• Build and maintain a high performing team – participate in the development of state organizational design and staffing plan; work with Human Resources/Talent Attraction and Acquisition to lead recruitment efforts for state Lead Associate staff; and promote staff learning and development goals.

Required Qualifications
• Minimum of a Bachelor Degree or equivalent experience, plus at least 5 years of relevant experience
• Demonstrated experience supervising a team and managing performance
• Professional proficiency in MS Office suite and Adobe
• Professional proficiency in spoken and written English
• Professional experience working within branding guidelines for marketing and communications assets
• Demonstrated ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with individuals and teams at all levels, both internally and externally
• Demonstrated commitment to fostering and maintaining and environment of diversity, inclusion, and belonging.
