The Novelis Berea, KY team is seeking a Senior Electrical High Voltage Engineer. The person in this role will report to the Associate EMRA Leader. The ideal candidate will be responsible for leadership, direction and support in the design and maintenance of electrical and automation systems and controls. The incumbent guides and advises the activities of others engaged in activities related to electrical engineering, reliability/maintenance, automation and controls.

Responsibilities & Qualifications
• Anticipate and lead capital projects from conceptual to implementation phases
• Work in Level I and Level II (process automation) to meet the needs of the plant and personnel in a timely manner.
• Assist and support the Information Technology department with regular maintenance and upgrade of PC’s, servers, software, and other associated equipment.
• Lead or participate in root cause analysis to provide solutions and prioritize problems.
• Resolve and implement automation solutions for monitoring of environmental regulations and process and/or system improvements.
• Interact with internal customers to provide support, mentor, and needed assistance to meet safety, quality, reliability, and cost goals.

Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering-related subject
• Minimum eight years of relevant work experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Working knowledge of high voltage electrical distribution systems.
• Led major engineering projects
• Manufacturing experience in an aluminum industry preferred
• Superior customer service skills
• Excellent communication (oral and written) skills; ability to connect with all levels in the organization
• Personal traits should include the ability to apply human relation skills to empower, train, understand, and develop others to attain the objectives
• Desire to take initiative and develop a pro-active relationship with employees through follow-up, understanding their needs and encouraging a collaborative relationship
• Ability to coordinate and prioritize feature work; able lead multiple tasks at once without sacrificing attention to detail
• Must be flexible and able to operate in a fast-paced environment
• Confirmed digital literacy with software applications proficiency, including Microsoft Office including SAP
• Must also possess leadership skills to advise, lead and develop other personnel to accomplish personal, plant and corporate objectives
• Flexibility to work an on-call weekend rotation.

Location Profile

Novelis’ Berea facility is located in Berea Kentucky near Lexington. With 140 employees the recycling facility processes approximately 20 percent of all aluminum cans recycled in the United States each year – more than 750 million pounds. Berea is best known for its art festivals historic restaurants and buildings and as the home to Berea College and nearby Eastern Kentucky University. The recently built Kentucky Artisan Center hosts a wide variety of works by Kentucky artisans.
