• Taking of instructions from the Charge Nurse and organising his or her day’s work (if necessary with the Charge Nurse’s help)
• Keeping the Charge Nurse informed of all relevant issues concerning patients under his or her care (the Charge Nurse must be able to keep Doctors informed at all times)
• Answering patients’ bell very promptly
• Keeping his or her patients’ notes up to date at all times, namely the patients’ drugs chart, in close cooperation with the Nursing Officer appointed by the Charge Nurse. (This chart will be the only document used by doctors to monitor follow-up of treatment and later, will be the sole document on which the exact billing of consumables will be charged to patients).
• To accompany the Charge Nurse and Doctors (in so far as possible and as requested by the Charge Nurse) during Doctors’ visits.
• To ensure that the privacy of patients is respected at all times (by keeping noise level in corridors as low as possible, by always closing patients’ room.
• To collect patients’ details on admission, in close cooperation with the Nursing Officer appointed by the Charge Nurse and ensure that these are immediate taken down to the Data Input Clerk, via the Charge Nurse.
• On discharge of patients, to ensure that patients’ files are immediately available and complete, so that they can readily be taken down to billing clerk and cashier, via the Charge Nurse.
• To carry out all relevant tasks, namely the making of beds, bathing patients, removing bedpans, etc.
• To monitor patients’ meals, under the Charge Nurse’s supervision.
What are we looking for?
• Diploma in Healthcare Level 2 Holder
• Computer literate
• Ability to work efficiently under pressure
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and customer service skills
