Development Aid from People to People (DAPP) Malawi is a locally registered NGO that has been operating in Malawi since 1995. Our mission is to work with the communities by promoting social and economic development through health, education training, food security and environmental programs. Our work in development is guided by social cohesion and respect for humanity, implemented through innovative and cost-effective programs. Through a variety of development models, DAPP complements the government’s effort in implementing the Malawi Growth and Development Strategy.

DAPP Malawi is inviting suitably qualified and experienced persons to apply for various positions for the Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) funded project which is to be implemented in Blantyre and Chiradzulu districts aiming at strengthening access to high quality and comprehensive services targeting adolescent and young people through Determined, Resilient, AIDS-Free Mentored and Safe (DREAMS) Program under the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR), a project called “Loto Langa” or “LoLa” in short.

The program includes several layers of interventions including Direct service delivery of HIV Testing and Family planning and condom promotion and distribution to for adolescent girls and young women (AGYW), Social asset building and HIV Violence prevention of AGYW, Economic strengthening and educational support, Families Matter Program and Implementing the IMPOWER Program.

Position: IT Officer (1)

Reports to DREAMS Technical Lead

Job summary/ responsibilities:

The Information Technology Officer will have a high attention to detail, strong computer skills with the ability to multi-task with minimal error. The Information Technology (IT) Officer will be reporting to the DREAMS LEAD, the IT Officer will be responsible and accountable for the smooth running of DREAMS LOLA Project computer systems within the limits of requirements, specifications, costs and timelines as well as supervise the implementation and maintenance of DREAMS LOLA

Project operating systems.

Key Performance Areas
• Manage information technology and computer systems.
• Ensure availability of systems and compliance with Service Level Agreements.
• Document and maintain database.
• Contribute to departmental productivity and development of objectives
• Design, develop, implement and coordinate systems, policies and procedures
• Ensure security of data, network access and backup systems
• Act in alignment with user needs and system functionality to contribute to organizational policy.
• Identify problematic areas and implement strategic solutions in time.
• Audit systems and assess their outcomes
• Running routine system operations reports and sharing them with top employees.
• Organizing and establishing deadlines for major IT projects such as system updates, migrations, upgrades, and outages.
• Provision of technical assistance to DREAMS LOLA Project staff and its members.
• Managing programs, Local Area Networks and providing relevant data security and backup systems.
• Any other duties assigned from time to time
• Providing user support and training to staff
• Carrying out installation and configuration of ICT equipment, systems, and applications
• Monitoring and maintaining ICT equipment, systems, applications
• Recommending to management on outsourcing of ICT services
• Providing advice on matters relating to ICT
• Taking necessary actions to resolve network issues

Qualification and Experience
• Must have a Diploma or Bachelors’ Degree in Information Technology/ Computer Science from a recognized institution.
• 3 years work experience as an ICT officer or similar work
• Excellent knowledge of databases
• Great attention to detail
• Sense of ownership and pride in performance and its impact on company’s success
• Critical thinker
• Team player
• Good time-management skills
• Great interpersonal and communication skills
• Ready to start work at short notice
