Location: Borno (Dikwa, Mafa and Rann)

Duration: 10 Months

Background information

Jireh Doo Foundation (JDF) is a National Non-government organization with over 19 years’ existence and actively intervening in the humanitarian response in the Northeast and other parts of the country since 2013. JDF works in the following thematic areas.

1. Improved response to the humanitarian needs of vulnerable people.

2. Improved gender equality and livelihood support for persons at the community level of young persons, men, and women.

3. Promotion of prevention and treatment in HIV and other health disease burden (Malaria, TB and Diarrhea).

4. Promotion of protection programs for children and youth in Communities that encourages child development and Adolescent empowerment.

5. Promoting good governance and policies.

6. Monitoring, Evaluation Accountability learning and sharing of information on protection, livelihood support accessible through knowledge and information management.

Jireh Doo Foundation is therefore seeking candidates with a bachelor’s degree or its equivalent and a minimum of two (2) years working in similar role as a Security assistant and is familiar with the implementation of WFP projects especially in Deep field locations.

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Assist the SO and Head of office in the regular collection and collation of all S&S information across the mission and compute same in the system, using appropriate software and hardware.

2. Assist the Safety and security Dept in trip planning activities from trip requests, movement tracking/records, follow-up on travel SoPs compliance, movement tracking/timing and file a trip completion records and report trip stoppages and hitches for immediate follow-up.

3. Assist the SO team in the preparation of Safety and security related reports.

4. Collect/collate and report up-line, safety, and security related incidents internally and externally.

5. Assist in the preparation and delivery of S&S training and programmes in the field.

6. Monitor Fleet activities and report on all breaches.

7. Carry out any other duty/responsibilities assigned by the SO and the HO aimed at effective S&S management in the field Office.

Qualification and experience

Required Experience

1. Degree level qualifications in any of humanities or sciences and Security management.

2. At least two years’ work experience performing Safety and security functions.

3. Strong learning attitude and capacity for learning and development of technical and professional skills.

4. Highly developed cultural awareness and ability to work well in an internationally diverse environment.

5. Strong Competency in Internet and Microsoft Office systems and other database/mapping systems

6. Fluency in English, Hausa and Kanuri if possible.

Skills and Behaviours

1. Information Gathering and analysis using good knowledge of management practice and technologies used in the sector.

2. Basic understanding of NGOs programming.

3. Basic knowledge of Fraud and criminal investigation procedures and methods.

4. Critical thinking and excellent logical skills.

5. Strong proficiency in the use of Office programs like word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.

6. Nose-for-news’ and ability to spot flaws in systems. 7. Have good communication and presentations skills.
