Background information

Jireh Doo Foundation (JDF) is a National Non-government organization with over 19 years’ existence and actively intervening in the humanitarian response in the Northeast and other parts of the country since 2013. JDF works in the following thematic areas.

1. Improved response to the humanitarian needs of vulnerable people.

2. Improved gender equality and livelihood support for persons at the community level of young persons, men, and women.

3. Promotion of prevention and treatment in HIV and other health disease burden (Malaria, TB and Diarrhea).

4. Promotion of protection programs for children and youth in Communities that encourages child development and Adolescent empowerment.

5. Promoting good governance and policies

6. Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability learning and sharing of information on protection, livelihood support accessible through knowledge and information management.

Jireh Doo Foundation is therefore seeking candidates with a bachelor’s degree or its equivalent and a minimum of two (2) years of experience working as an IT Specialist are encouraged to apply.

Duties and Responsibilities

The Information Technology Support officer shall be accountable on the following key areas:

1. Network Management:

2. Setup Office IT infrastructure, with support from the IT coordinator

3. Manage network in all field offices

4. Troubleshooting, ensuring an effective network connection and maintaining the entire local area network installed at the various field offices.

5. Install, troubleshooting and maintain networked devices e.g., printers, scanners, etc.

6. Maintain record of the local network, VPN connection and the wide area network installed and terminated in the field offices.

7. In consultation with the IT Coordinator, ensure that staff visiting from other field offices/country offices, ERPs and consultants have the necessary IT assistance to enable them carry out their official assignments during their stay

HARDWARE SUPPORT:

1. Configure and install systems and set up new users.

2. Carry out routine preventive maintenance/checks and troubleshoot problems with assigned field offices.

3. Ensure all IT hardware equipment and computer accessories/peripherals are maintained effectively

4. Ensure all IT issues in all field offices are resolved in a timely manner.

5. Perform IT hardware inventory update as necessary

6. Telecommunications Management:

7. Ensure the field offices have a functioning voice network (IP PBX). All devices are functioning and the service is cost effective.

8. Troubleshooting technical problems with mobile subscriptions and IP Phone.

9. Ensure radio and satellite equipment is operational.

10.Ensure satellite phones are working and SIM cards are activated at all time.

ASSET MANAGEMENT:

1. In collaboration with the assets team and the IT coordinator:

2. Ensure good asset management at the various field offices through maintenance of an accurate and up to date asset register and inventory tracking system, in close collaboration with the Logistics and Administrative support teams

3. Responsible to make sure that all assets (IT and office equipment) are correctly used

4. Oversee the issuance and return of assets to/from staff and record all asset movements and disposals of IT equipment

INCIDENT MANAGEMENT:

1. Providing first level support to all field offices

2. Communicating any service disruptions to users, opportunities and other relevant policies

3. Carry out any other tasks required by the IT coordinator

4. Security and Backup:

5. Keep the network and all computer systems safe, secure, and virus-free.

6. Report any alleged or suspected misuse of IT systems/equipment, lapses of security and major violations of organizational standards to the IT coordinator

7. Ensure proper backup of all staff information, files, and folders.

POWER BACKUP:

1. Monitor installation of independent power backup system (solar), for communications equipment in all field offices.

2. Supervise regular maintenance of independent power backup system (solar).

Qualification and experience

Essential:

1. Level of Education – Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related disciplines –

IT certifications included.

2. At least 2 years working in a similar position.

3. Proven knowledge of hardware maintenance and ability to solve simple hardware problems; this includes set-up and management of network devices e.g. printers, scanners, etc.

4.Solid experience in maintaining, troubleshooting and administering a Microsoft Windows-based (local area) network.

5. Solid background maintaining, trouble-shooting and administering a Microsoft Windows server 2008.

6. Knowledge of Microsoft Windows operating systems, including Windows 7, Windows 10, and Window 11, and Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)

7. Excellent organizational skills, including the ability to manage several tasks simultaneously; strong interpersonal and networking skills and the ability to work with a diverse range of people.

8. Communication & Interpersonal Skill Level – Excellent.

9. Language Requirements – English – Excellent.

10.Level of IT Expertise Required – Good.

Preferable

• Female candidates are preferred.

• Familiarity with Monitoring & Evaluation of projects in the BAY states.

• Candidates from Yobe state with proven experience and understanding of the local languages and context.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

1. Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

2. Advanced computer skills, including the ability to type quickly and to use Microsoft Office products, email, and the internet.

3. Ability to maintain confidentiality for sensitive issues or projects and use judgement to execute duties and responsibilities.

4. Sensitive to cultural differences and an understanding of the political and ethical issues

5. Fluency in English and Hausa (written & spoken).

6. Knowledge of health programs.
