Zowasel Field Ops Specialists are the primary sales and service touchpoint for our customers and stakeholders. They represent Zowasel and are well versed in all Zowasel value propositions. Field Ops Specialists execute with the clear objective of supporting the growers, crop sellers, and processors in business decisions to help improve crop profitability and supply chain efficiencies. Customer experience is core to the success of these team members in a quest to develop “enterprise” customers.

The role of the Field Ops Specialists is to build and maintain close, emotional relationships with Zowasel’s customers. This role extends far beyond a traditional sales or field support position and will require the candidate to demonstrate strong business acumen, understanding of ag business, and exceptional emotional intelligence. The Field Ops Specialists will need to intimately understand Zowasel’s commercial offerings, articulate the benefits of Zowasel’s solutions, close the sale with new growers, crop sellers and expand their book of business each quarter.

Once the relationship has been established, Field Ops Specialists will devote their efforts to delighting their growers and crop sellers with deep knowledge of quality farm operations, crop quality specification standards, and exceptional customer service, selling the complete Zowasel portfolio of offerings, and building a long-lasting partnership with growers and crop sellers. The Field Ops Specialists will partner with experienced Zowasel Subject Matter Experts to enable growers and sellers success by maximizing crop profitability.

The role of the Field Ops Specialist is to collect data as part of the Indigo Certified Crop program and Crop Traceability program. Key responsibilities include assisting growers in the Zowasel Certified program, through agronomic data collection and soil samples. Additionally, they will help growers increase profitability through grain quality test samples, to enable growers to sell their grain for a premium.

Responsibilities:

The responsibilities of the Field Ops Specialists are divided into three:

Growers Account Manager
• Serves as the primary relationship manager for grower-customers and leads a grower-facing team of Subject Matter Experts
• Maintains grower accounts, sales stages, important notes, and sales process information in CRM tool and utilizes other sales enablement technologies
• Expands relationships with growers through a consultative sales approach that gets them to adopt Zowasel solutions across the crop lifecycle
• Systematically finds and nurtures grower leads whether assigned to them or developed on his/her own through an account-based selling approach
• Graduates training certified in effectively communicating Zowasel’s mission, technology, services, and solutions including Marketplace; Certified Crop, Finance, and Transport. Demonstrates skill in addressing questions/resistance and closing skills

Crop Quality Assurance
• Follow established QC processes and protocols to determine the concentration and purity of samples.
• Perform QC release testing for all product release samples.
• Conduct stability analysis on the concept and final product formulations and assess the physical attributes of samples, including viscosity, density, and moisture, etc.
• Record and interpret QC data, using CRM, and report results to the QA manager for issuance of Certificate of Analysis.
• Lead QC monthly data review meetings for stability program with key stakeholders across Crop Test Centers and back office
• Maintain supplier relationships with partners, receive all incoming commercial products for QC analysis.
• Serve as system administrator in QMS system for QA, serve as review/approver for all Quality related documents
• Perform root cause analysis for any non-conformances related to the QA department.
• Support method validation and tech transfer activities for commercial and pre-commercial products.
• Coordinate and analyze on-seed stability for treated seed samples
• Ensure analytic equipment is in good operating order through calibration, troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and related record-keeping
• Execute on contamination preventive initiatives, using the 5S methodology

Onboarding of new customers
• Recruit and complete onboarding of new grower clusters, local crop sellers, provide basic pieces of training deployment with all required competency skills
• Become the regional authority on requirements on Zowasel’s data collection, soil sampling, and grain quality protocols.
• Data collection: fully trained on all the requirements for the data collection on the field
• Fully versed with all data collection platforms, submission processes & routing software
• Grain quality: grain quality testing with growers
• Complete enrollment process training with a deep understanding of questions related to data collection.
• Grain Sampling: lead or assist with grain sampling efforts on the field
• Ability to complete and pass safety courses related to the safe operation of grain sampling equipment
• Completion and accuracy of carbon enrollment interviews according to schedule.
• Data accuracy in data submissions
• Grower visits completed according to schedule
• Crop Test Center visit according to schedule
• Grain and soil samples delivered to SOP specification
• Grain samples completed according to scheduling and SOP

Competencies:
• Great communication skills and establishing relationships with growers.
• Comfort with uncertainty with travel scheduling
• Excellent communicator and professionalism with regards to grower requirements and scheduling
• Comfortable with safely transporting, unloading, loading ATV for soil sampling needs
• Be comfortable and prepared for all weather conditions, long/overnight hours of road travel, and navigation.
• Familiarity with operating and troubleshooting mechanics of augurs and heavy machinery (>30lbs)
• Boundaries: attention to detail. Familiarity with protocols and following detailed directions.
• Stringent about following safety protocols.
• Use the best judgment on schedules and workloads.
• Work with scheduling and geofencing software
• Work as part of a team and stick with timelines

Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree required
• Preferred degrees: Agribusiness, Agronomy, Marketing, Finance, and Business
• Roles dealing directly with growers
• Preferred 3+ years of field experience in the role including grain marketing, ag tech, input sales, crop insurance, and farm equipment
• Bring an existing book of business due to their existing relationships with growers
• Ability to understand micro-market considerations for agriculture in the territory
• Proven ability to meet/exceed sales targets in the agriculture industry
• Demonstrated adaptability in sales skills, processes, and approaches
• Agriculture field operations experience preferred
• Ability to travel seasonally across the region, 80% during peak soil and grain sampling collection and closing sales
• Strong microbiology and associated microbial testing methodologies background, with applied experience in CFU plating, physical attribute testing, and demonstrated proficiency with sterile technique.
• Experience with data entry, validation, and interpretation, with prior use of Excel required.
• Nigerian native languages (Hausa, Yoruba, etc), strong English skills
• Experience with QMS systems is a plus
• Experience with Agriculture science work is plus
