The role of Cargo's Network & Forecasting team is to support this mission by providing strategic insights using analytics while partnering with teams across Delta. In this role you will creatively address commercial business problems to meet customer needs by using your strong core data science skills as well as your ability to build and influence relationships with both divisional leaders and leaders across other Delta divisions. You are an outside-the-box problem solver who enjoys thoughtful debates about how strategy, business process improvement, and analytics impact the way Delta effectively serves its customers in order to generate and implement team oriented solutions.
Work You'll Do:
• The ideal person tasked with developing reasons for critical initiatives, implementing relevant analysis, and translating your findings into concise and compelling presentations for an executive-level audience.
• In this opportunity you will partner closely with commercial and operational teams across Cargo as well as with Fleet Strategy, Network Planning, Flight Planning, and Performance Engineering to represent Cargo's perspective and business needs as proposals for corporate initiatives with multifaceted impact to Cargo are being developed.
• This position requires a strong understanding of Delta's data environment, a strong ability to extract and cleanse disparate data sets, to distill insights from this data through detailed analysis, and to make those insights available as easy-to-understand concrete recommendations in executive-level presentations.
• The successful candidate will espouse Delta's core values of Honesty, Integrity, Respect, Perseverance, and Servant Leadership. As a leader, you will be encouraged to generate results by empowering and developing individual contributors specialized in data science, analytics, statistics, software/database development, and computer programming.
• The position will require creative thinking and an ability to develop and drive pragmatic solutions, with heavy emphasis on computer programming and the ability to package messages to executives and other business leaders in a clear and concise manner.
• You will also need to build and maintain business relationships with a variety of partners across the company.
• A successful leader for this role will be a strong self-starter and will drive positive impact to Delta Cargo and Delta's customers through strategic, team-oriented insights.

What you need to succeed (minimum qualifications)
• Where permitted by applicable law, must have received or be willing to receive the COVID-19 vaccine by date of hire to be considered for U.S.-based job, if not currently employed by Delta Air Lines, Inc.

• Advanced level knowledge of SQL, SAS, Python, R, or other statistical programming languages
• Advanced level ability to manipulate data using programming language and to build sophisticated queries
• Must have strong discernment, statistical, analytical, and problem-solving skills, and able to handle sophisticated processes with cross-functional teams
• Ability to thoughtfully engage and develop team members required
• Proven understanding of Theory of Constraints preferred but not required
• Must possess excellent written, presentation, and verbal skills, with the capacity to produce concise, relevant, strategically-aligned documents and presentations for senior leaders
• Must be a great teammate, detail oriented, and work well with a quick turnaround
• Must convey a professional image with ability to lead, handle, and communicate to all levels within the organization, including Executive Leadership
• Ability to influence without authority and work in a matrix environment required
• Ability to optimally lead and deliver on many projects at once within strict deadlines is required
• Must be able to develop a vision, strategy, and objectives for a team and empower and lead team to accomplish objectives
What will give you a competitive edge (preferred qualifications)
• Bachelor's degree and 5+ years work experience in Data Analytics, Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, Mathematics or related analytical field required; Masters level degree preferred
