Job Summary

Paradise Valley Community College (PVCC) is seeking a Clinical Nursing One-Semester-Only (OSO) or One-Year-Only (OYO) faculty who provides clinical, classroom, and simulation instruction to students in Medical/Surgical nursing courses; requires theoretical and clinical knowledge of Medical/Surgical nursing; effectively employs non-traditional and innovative methods of instruction to promote critical thinking; uses instructional technologies to enhance learning and promote clinical judgment; demonstrates commitment to student academic success; models professionalism to students; practices effective interpersonal, leadership, and organizational skills while teaching in an integrated curriculum, based on Nurse of the Future Competencies (Patient-Centered Care, Professionalism, Leadership, Systems-Based Practice, Informatics and Technology, Communication, Teamwork and Collaboration, Safety, Quality Improvement, and Evidence-Based Practice) and the core values of Maricopa Nursing (Critical Thinking, Holism, Caring, Nursing Role Development, Information Management Technology, and Safe Practice). Essential Functions
• Supervises and instructs a diverse population of students in lab and clinical setting; develops written syllabi/course outlines and course materials; evaluates knowledge of subject matter taught and monitors students' scholastic records; prepares and grades exams; develops and enhances knowledge of subject matter taught and individual training skills required to remain current with new trends and developments in nursing through attendance at conferences, courses, seminars, and/or workshops; maintains office hours.
• Serves on and participates in department, college and district wide committees and activities.
• Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications

1. Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree plus 3 years of experience as a professional nurse providing direct patient care, OR a BSN and a graduate degree and 2-years' experience as a professional nurse providing direct patient care, OR a graduate degree in nursing and 2 years of experience as a professional nurse providing direct patient care.

2. Must hold an Arizona registered nurse license in good standing or multi-state privilege to practice in Arizona by the first day of employment.

3. Must be able to meet health and safety requirements including CPR certification, Fingerprint Clearance Card, and drug testing.

4. Must complete EDU 250 - Teaching and Learning in the Community College or equivalent within two years of date of hire.

Desired Qualifications

1. Master of Science in Nursing Degree.

2. Three years' experience in Medical/Surgical Hospital setting.

3. Three years' experience teaching Medical/Surgical didactic content in an accredited nursing program.

4. Experience using technology/online learning platforms.

Special Working Conditions
• May require possession of a valid State of Arizona Class D Driver's License (or other valid United States Driver's License) is required; employee must meet district minimum standards regarding driving:

• Required to have possession of a valid Level I DPS Fingerprint Clearance Card.
• Required to have a "Pass" status on a MCCCD supplemental background check based and immunizations on the standards of MCCCD's clinical experience partners that have established the most stringent requirements.
• Possible exposure to blood borne pathogens and other infectious diseases
• May be required to instruct at multiple sites and/or teach days, evenings and weekends
• Assignment may extend past the normal academic semesters
• MCCCD does not sponsor individuals for any type of work visas
• Will be required to travel or be assigned to all MCCCD locations
• May require travel or work at the Black Mountain campus
• Travel to campus during interview/selection process will be at candidate's own expense
• May require lifting objects weighing up to 40 lbs.
