Paradise Valley Community College (PVCC) is seeking an Education faculty who will build and maintain all aspects of a Teacher Education Programs that align to state and national requirements for certification. They will collaborate with others to coordinate PVCC's Teacher Education Program with the design and instruction of lower and upper division elementary/special education courses in accordance with the college's learning-centered college philosophy. The instructor will use multiple methods and modalities of instruction, assessment, and appropriate instructional technologies to engage and mentor students in learning, enhance teaching, and promote student success. The instructor will demonstrate a commitment to student success and completion by contributing to the academic life and mission of the college. The instructor will work collaboratively to develop and maintain partnerships with PK-12 school districts throughout Arizona, facilitate activities outside the classroom for students (including fieldwork placements and practicum observations) and collect, document, analyze and report student and program data. The instructor will demonstrate a commitment to service excellence, innovation, assessment, student success, integrity, and diversity in the performance of job duties. Availability for evening and weekend events may be necessary.

Essential Functions

Supervises and instructs a diverse population of students in undergraduate courses (200-400 level) within the requisite discipline meeting the required course load requirements. Assesses student performance in accordance with College Assessment Practices. Develops written syllabi/course outlines and course materials. Develops and provides instruction that incorporates current teaching methodologies, technologies and other trends that reflect advances in the requisite discipline educational instruction. Assists students outside classroom hours and actively mentors students. Engages regularly in professional development activities.

Maintains compliance with requirements for program accreditation. Collects, documents, analyzes and reports student and program data. Develops and maintains relationships with stakeholders (especially PK-12 schools/districts) to support the Teacher Preparation Program including internship programs, project collaborations and student mentoring. Recruits, hires and provides leadership and mentorship to adjunct faculty. Effectively utilizes assigned resources including any budget allocations.

Maintains compliance with all college policies and program accreditation/licensure requirements. As full-time exempt employees, Residential Faculty support MCCCD's central mission of teaching and learning. It is inherent in the professional role of the Residential Faculty that additional hours, outside of teaching, are necessary for the enrichment of the Colleges, District, and external communities. Participates actively in college committees for advancing the overall educational mission of the college.Fosters and promotes diversity and collegiality among faculty, students and staff.

Minimum Qualifications

The Academic Teaching Fields require the following from an accredited college or university:

1. A master's degree in the teaching field, or a master's in any teaching field with 18 graduate semester hours in the teaching field

2. EDU 250 - Teaching and Learning in the Community College -- or equivalent must be completed within two years of date of hire

Desired Qualifications

1. Experience teaching in a K-8 regular education classroom.
2. Experience teaching/supporting students who qualify for special education services.
3. Experience teaching Pre-service teachers at the upper division college level (300-400).
4. Experience creating, building and maintaining all aspects of a Teacher Education Program that align with state and national certification requirements.
5. Experience working with K-12 partners to build and maintain an education program.
6. Experience in utilizing assessment to inform pedagogy.
7. Experience working with diverse faculty, staff, and/or students, including people representing a wide range of cultural and educational backgrounds, ethnicities, ages, genders, disabilities, learning styles, lifestyle preferences, etc.

Special Working Conditions
• May require possession of a valid State of Arizona Class D Driver's License (or other valid United States Driver's License) is required; employee must meet district minimum standards regarding driving
• Required to have possession of a valid Level I DPS Fingerprint Clearance Card
• Required to have a "Pass" status on a MCCCD supplemental background check based and immunizations on the standards of MCCCD's clinical experience partners that have established the most stringent requirements
• Possible exposure to blood borne pathogens and other infectious diseases
• May be required to instruct at multiple sites and/or teach days, evenings and weekends
• Assignment may extend past the normal academic semesters
• MCCCD does not sponsor individuals for any type of work visas
• Will be required to travel or be assigned to all MCCCD locations
• May require travel or work at the Black Mountain campus
• Travel to campus during interview/selection process will be at candidate's own expense
• May require lifting objects weighing up to 25 lbs.
