Salary: $53,753 - $84,171 Annually + $2,000 Master's Degree Stipend, $2,000 Doctorate Stipend. Final placement determined upon receipt of official sealed transcripts and verification of prior contracted teaching experience.

Landscape & Environmental Design Instructor

The GEO Environmental Science and Design Academy is seeking a high school teacher for the Landscape and Environmental Design courses at Grant Union High School in Sacramento, CA. The teacher will be part of a team of educators in the 4 year pathway 9th-12th grade. This position is an opportunity to provide creative, hands-on instruction to students in a studio and outdoors in the school garden. This is a CTE (Career Technical Education) teaching position.

Skills And Experience Needed For This Position
• A degree and/or work experience in landscape architecture, landscape design, environmental design or planning
• Training and/or experience with CAD, Sketchup, and other design software (Adobe Creative Suite - Photoshop and Illustrator)
• Academic coursework and/or work experience in horticulture
• Ability to communicate design concepts, principles, and facilitate student-lead design projects
• Ability to communicate the concepts of urban design, habitat restoration, and low impact (sustainable) green design
• Ability to teach design through computer-based software, hands-on projects and in the outdoor environment

Upon acceptance of offer of employment the candidate must apply for a Certificate of Completion of Staff Development (English Language Learner Authorization) waiver unless the candidate already holds a valid English Language Learner Authorization (i.e. CLAD).

Candidate must also enroll in a clear Designated Subjects Career Technical Education (CTE) credential program if they do no currently hold the clear credential (i.e. San Diego County Office of Education or other approved CTE credential program)

CTE CREDENTIAL ELIGIBILITY: includes 3,000 hours in applicable industry sector for position above. Hours can be a combination of the following;

3,000 hours (3 years) of experience teaching on a Multiple or Single Subject credential

AND/OR

2,000 hours (48 semester units) of coursework in credential subject area

AND/OR

1,000 hours (1 year) for every year of experience working or volunteering in specific industry sector mentioned
