Company Description

SNV Netherlands Development Organisation is a not-for-profit international development organization established in the Netherlands in 1965. Driven by the Sustainable Development Goals, SNV makes a lasting difference in the lives of people living in poverty by helping them raise their incomes and access basic services. SNV has been present in Tanzania for over 50 years. We aim to achieve inclusive growth and development through effective solutions with local impact, which are essential for lasting development success.

SNV intends to work with public and private local partners to provide young rural women and men with relevant engagements combining practical training, ICT-based career guidance, access to financial services, small enterprise development coaching, and mentoring work placements.

The Opportunities for Youth Employment (OYE) project is a three-year, second-phase, project funded by DANIDA and the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), being implemented by SNV in collaboration with local service providers and the government in two regions of Morogoro and Singida. Its implementation commenced in April 2021 and will continue until March 2024. The project has a strong focus on self-employment creation and empowerment of rural, out-of-school youth between the ages of 18 and 30 years. Emphasis is placed on gender equality. The direct aim of the three-year second phase project is to improve the livelihoods of 4,250 youth: rural (3,200) and peri-urban (1,050) out-of-school youth. The project approach is characterized by localized, flexible, accessible, practical, and market-relevant skills training and matching skilled youth with markets for employment and enterprise development.

OYE 2 project is working with youth living in rural or peri-urban areas within the regions of Singida and Morogoro: 50 percent female, and 50 percent male. The majority of these youth have dropped out of school and are marginalized, in the sense of being not able to pursue further education as well as they have limited resources to help them access critical services (finances among the major) to further their livelihood options (those that have already established or thinking of establishing businesses). The project also targets youth living with disabilities.
