Overview

We are looking for an ambitious and energetic Communications Associate to join our team!

You will perform a strategic awareness of our brand by assisting with planning and implementing a marketing, branding and communications strategy for Ramani. You may be responsible for the company’s client research and content creation, copywriting, designing simple graphics, managing social media and outreach, launching email campaigns, researching media coverage, and promoting the company's products and services. You also typically perform administrative duties as needed. You’ll be managed by the Head of People, Culture & Communication across all areas of your portfolio, and maintain a close relationship with the internal and external stakeholders.

About the role

The Communication Associate’s role will be to manage and improve all our communications flows, within and outside of our company. In addition, you will be responsible for promoting a positive public image of our company.

Your main responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):
• Plan and implement communication strategies
• Provide creative planning and execution support to develop social and behaviour change materials in coordination with internal and external design teams, product, impact and social performance experts and various functional leads of Ramani
• Write and edit client stories, scripts for videos, blogs, case studies, factsheets, capacity statements and annual reports
• Conduct research, suggest ideas, and provide coordination support to ensure the timely and effective delivery of video/film
• Periodically update all external facing materials. Develop and manage a communications resource portal and share with internal and external stakeholders
• Keep track of company related matters published in the media
• Draft media releases, initiate, plan and supervise media promotion of the company
• Edit company texts and communication material and oversee monthly correspondence
• Develop and consolidate relations with the media
• Support communications needs of the senior leadership by developing presentations, talking points for interviews and editorials
• Train and guide staff in external communications by distributing and promoting communications guidelines for staff to refer to when creating content
• Under guidance, prepare content for use on traditional and social media platforms and networks, and printed materials, to enhance coverage and support of Ramani’s activities, ensuring consistency with corporate messages
• Contribute towards company image through appearances and strategic planning
• Record, Review and update company’s communication strategies

Qualifications

Essential requirements
• Hold a diploma or degree in Marketing or Mass Communication, Public Relations, ICT or any related field will be an added advantage
• Have at least 2-3 years of experience in communications/brand marketing
• Have excellent communication skills, verbal and written in English and Swahili
• Excellent organizational skills and ability to work across areas and prioritise own workload
• Ability to work to deadlines in a busy environment - working on multiple project elements at any given time

Desirable requirements
• Ability to multitask in a highly time-sensitive environment
• A solid understanding of the importance and power of culture in an organisation
• A very good knowledge of contemporary communication styles and platforms; knowledge of microfinance and financial inclusion will be an added advantage.
• Obsessed with detail and reasoning with data
• Experience in copywriting and editing
• Futuristic in your thinking, constantly coming up with new ideas
• Experience in web design and content production is a plus

• Relationship Management and influencing skills
• Fluent in English speaking and writing; ability to plan strategic campaigns; project management and event management; expert in developing ideas and content for various digital media platforms; strong creative and technical writing abilities
• Strong attention to detail
• Flexibility and the ability to prioritize tasks
• Understanding & willingness to deliver after normal work hours
• Creativity
