About the job
The purpose of the position is to provide leadership, management, and overall responsibilities of business functions. The incumbent will be responsible for developing and implementing day to day functions across the group. The incumbent will be and advocate for the company and will work closely with other members of the Executive Team to achieve and maintain the standards set forth and provide group secretary duties.
This position reports to the GCEO
This position is based in Midrand.
Qualifications and Experience
• 5-8 years management experience at a senior level.
• BCom, Master's Degree in Legal or Related Field.
• Professional Certificate/Accreditation

Responsibilities

Strategic Management
• Participate in the formulation of Group strategy and accountable for ensuring formulation of the departmental strategic plans policies and ensuring implementation thereof.
• Manage and direct the development and implementation of the company's goals, objectives, policies, and priorities for each assigned services area.
• Assess and monitor workload, administrative and support systems, and internal reporting relationships, identify opportunities for improvement; direct and implement changes.
• Actively participates as an executive member of the organization and management team.

Management of business Unit
• Provide leadership and direction to the legal management business unit to enable them to deliver comprehensive services to the business in their respective work streams and ensure quality of service.
• Advise and guide the Group Chief Executive Officer and Board Members on the formation, development and application of policy and strategic decisions ensure high quality and continuous improvement in service delivery.
• Ensure regular and effective communication between the business units across the country (Inland and Coastal)
• Develop continuously improve and implement the organizations approach to risk management.
• Ensure a thorough awareness and understanding of the LRA, Basic conditions of Employment Act and all other labor legislation.
• Ensure effective and consistent implementation and continuous improvement with the Groups quality management system.
• Execute manage change management and organizational development activities.
• Develop, implement, and monitor compliance with Group B-BBEE strategy.
• Ensuring that offices across the country operate effectively and efficiently.
• Ensuring the risk of the Group is mitigated on a continuous basis but developing and implementing legal processes, contracts and providing day-to-day legal advice to all employees of the Group.
• Keep abreast of new legislation, updated legislation and case law to monitor legislative changes and advise business accordingly.
• Responsible for the GPP document and overseeing implementation thereof.

Group Secretary
• Provide Group secretarial services, ensuring that the group Adheres to and complies with all applicable legislation, corporate governance regulations and guidelines.
• Advise the Board and respective committees on any changes to such regulations and implication thereof to the Group.
• Review legislative, regulatory and governance developments that may impact the Group and ensure the Board is appropriately briefed on such.
• Facilitate the induction process of new Executives and Board members.
• Provide Board members with guidance on duties, responsibilities, and powers.
• Manage communication in relation to Board decisions to relevant stakeholders.
• Ensure that Executives and Board members are aware of and adhere to the highest governance standards.
