Our client, based at Cape Town Harbour, is looking for a qualified Accountant to join their team. The successful candidate must be a competent, dynamic, highly energetic, assertive and professional. You must have relevant expertise in understanding financial information, preparing financial reports to determine and maintain record of assets, liabilities, profit, loss, taxes and other financial activities. You must be able to analyse and accurately report on costings, budgets and forecasts.
Reporting to the Financial Manager, duties include:
• Reviewing and overseeing all financial month-end functions
• Reviewing reconciliations
• Reviewing supplier invoices for correct GL and job code allocation
• Having oversight across all finance areas: invoicing, procure to pay, employee expenses, wages and overtime costing, management accounting, VAT review, credit control, monthly commentaries, cashflow reporting and statutory reporting
• Being responsible for the fixed asset register
• Budgeting and forecasting assistance to the Financial Manager
• Reviewing and passing journals
• Preparing and co-ordinating information as requested by the Auditors for the audit / review
• Handling all audit / review related matters and queries
• Inventory control
• Coordinating and reviewing cash management processes
• Adhering to all statutory, governance and taxation requirements of the Group
• Managing and leading subordinates
• Identifying and executing efficiencies in the regular weekly and monthly tasks
• Ad hoc financial projects and functions
Requirements:
• B.Com (Accounting) or equivalent degree / diploma
• Preferably completed articles
• Exposure to Sage Accounting preferred
