Facilities Technician has ownership and is responsible for the effectiveness of facilities equipment and execution of facilities maintenance plans. Helps develop facilities preventive maintenance plans and procedures. Offers professional customer service on assigned projects concerning construction, development, installation and repair of facilities equipment. Performs maintenance plans and follows procedures to ensure efficiency of planned work.
The utilities/facilities organization owns every aspect of the facility including the property, waste water treatment, the building, parking lots and utilities.
What are we looking for?
• National Diploma in Mechanical or Electrical engineering or equivalent NQF6.
• 5+ Years Relevant Working Experience in Engineering Services and or Facilities Management.
• Must have data analysis understanding and must be able to present findings to management.
• Knowledge of Electricity, water, buildings and waste management principles
• Knowledge and understanding of Metering and verification principles
• Understanding of electrical and water supplies in buildings
What will be your key responsibilities?
• Responsible for management and maintenance of utility equipment and reliability, including 24/7 facility area coverage.
• Continuous improvement, equipment breakdown repair, preventative maintenance and associated systems, management and control of maintenance costs.
• Obtain competitive bids and create requisitions for parts and vendor services as needed. Manage assigned projects in all stages to meet expected outcome. Accountable for delivering project objectives, day to day activities within budget and scheduled time.
• Coordinates delivery of services and repairs from outside vendors.
• Initiate and mange investigation of significant out of norm utility usage.
• In-depth knowledge of quality systems and all work instructions for area. Provide input for improvements/changes to work instructions.
• Provide project planning and estimate moderately complex jobs.
• Use and follow all engineering standards when implementing projects.
• Maintains clean work environment including 5S adherence and follow through to ensure completion of action plans to address sources of contamination.
• Responsible for insuring complete and current troubleshooting documentation on equipment within area of responsibility.
• Detailed knowledge of area including process flow, rates, critical control points, metrics (ATS, TRS, costs).
• Develop best practices for area and ensure best practices are followed.
• Effectively works and communicates with all departments.
• Makes business decisions based on quantitative and qualitative data analysis.
• Represent maintenance team in the daily FMOS meetings. Provides performance data for selected machines and communicates action plans and completed work effectively.
• Ownership of Facilities assigned equipment.
• Effectively execute work orders for facilities and site improvements.
• Drives maintenance plans accuracy.
• Operations of Energy Monitoring System (EMS) data and utility monitoring.
• Participation in capital projects related to facilities improvements including buildings.
