Duties & Responsibilities

Job Description

The marketing manager’s role is to manage various business units and maintain a positive image of the firm both internally and externally. This includes monitoring, measuring, and analyzing the effectiveness of marketing initiatives as they relate to the overall goals of the company, collaboratively working with the marketing budget. This individual will apply proven communication, analytic, technological, creative, innovation and digital marketing skills, to ensure that the objectives of the firm are met.

Strategy & Planning

Assist Business Units to determine and implement marketing strategy, whilst working closely with the Head of Marketing.

Show initiative and creativity in determining how marketing can assist in growing their business practices.

Collaborate with Head of Marketing to determine budget for initiatives identified.

Track budgets throughout life cycle of strategy.

Provide input regarding strategic planning and prioritisation on behalf of Head of Marketing and Marketing Committee.

Ensure annual firm strategy, objectives and goals are met.

Liaise with key stakeholders daily, to fulfill all marketing requirements.

Manage and implement media strategy and plans for various business units demonstrating own initiative.

Project & Event Management

Take initiative in the project management of marketing plans and implementation of relevant elements within that plan, ensuring all deadlines are met.

Proactively take a holistic view of all projects by providing research, event management and strategic planning.

Take responsibility for coordinating and implementing the Firm’s client events, from conception through to completion. Implement processes to track success of the project e.g., Client survey’s post an event.

Positioning

Build brand awareness in the Global IP and South African market

Management

Coordinate and implement the firm’s client events, from conception through to completion.

Manage the outputs of the Business Unit coordinators.

Work closely with external agencies (digital and PR) to promote and publicise the event.

Work closely with internal and external vendors when coordinating event details.

Conduct pre- and post – event evaluations and report on outcomes

Firm Research & Submissions

Assist in putting together detailed submissions to ensure the firm is ranked in the top global legal directories and listings.

Assist in putting together detailed research reports, including market and customer information on new and potential clients.

Keep accurate records on clients at all times.

Communications

Collaborate with prominent members of the firm, including Partners and PR to craft and pitch press releases and thought leadership columns.

Maintain branding standards of all marketing communications.

Proactively work with the businesses to keep communication channels open, and deliver value Skills and Knowledge.

Desired Experience & Qualification

Qualifications

Matric or equivalent qualification. A relevant tertiary qualification in Marketing.

Skills

Previous experience in a professional service environment will be advantageous. At least 1 to 2 years’ staff management experience. 5-6 years relevant marketing experience. Excellent understanding of the full marketing mix, including events, social media content generation, PR and internal communications. Excellent organisational prioritisation, and client service skills – with the ability to work under immense pressure. Excellent writing and communications skills are essential Event management experience. Ability to provide input regarding strategic planning and prioritization on behalf of the Head of Marketing and Marketing Committee. Experience in identifying target audiences and devising campaigns that engage, inform and motivate. Experience in handling detailed marketing budgets and forecasting / reporting results Comfortable working with numbers, metrics and spreadsheets Advanced administration skills are essential. Ability to work in a multi-task and multi-deadline environment. Ability to maintain concentration as work is subject to frequent interruptions. Able to work independently and be self motivated. Ability to work and communicate effectively with a variety of people, both internally and externally. Understanding of media environments, timelines and constraints highly advantageous.

Salary / Package

R60000 - R70000 per month ctc
