The client based in Phoenix Industrial Park, Durban SA, is a large-scale manufacturer of Scholastic Stationery, engaged primarily in Exercise Books, Exam Pads, Lever Arch Files.
Purpose of Job:
The incumbent of this position will be responsible for achieving targets, ensuring quality standards are met, He/she will adhere to all safety, environment and legislative requirements in order to fulfil the necessary requirements within the Department.
A Fitter and Turner fabricates industrial tools, components and products from metal. Working to a set of specifications, they operate tools and machines to grind, mill and shape raw materials into the specified form, then assembling the final product. Measure each large and small component to ensure they will fit together properly in the final design. Identify potential problems by understanding machine specification and drawings before production process
Production:
• Analysing of blueprints for mechanical system’s to determine the specifications of the components to be constructed
• Constructing structural components from raw materials
• Using welding equipment to fuse structural component
• Conducting diagnostic testing on malfunctioning systems to determine the root cause of the malfunction
• Replacing damaged or defective structural components as needed
• Attend to planned factory maintenance timeously
• Attend to breakdowns timeously ensuring efficiency and accurate maintenance is carried out with minimal downtime.
• To ensure the safety of all mechanical devices on the machine.
• To repair day to day breakdowns.
• Attend to all daily mechanical repairs.
• Perform preventative maintenance
• Daily reporting of machine condition
• Request for machine spares and tools
• The fitter’s responsibility’s include keeping accurate records of all maintenance work done, repairing malfunctioning mechanical systems
