Our client, a leading private producer and exporter of citrus and sub-tropical fruit in South Africa is recruiting for a Packhouse Manager, based in Malelane
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Manage and coordinate all packhouse activities including, but not limited to, operations planning- and execution, administration, logistics and workers engaged in receiving, grading, storing, and shipping fruit
• Actively drive, structure and organize the packing process
• Maximize packhouse efficiencies
• Maximize profitability of packhouse operations
• Pack fruit according to specific export standards with minimum deviation and rejections; - Maximize fruit packed for export
• Ensure that chemical application is done correctly according to specifications and market requirements
• Deliver fruit correctly according to market allocations
• Labour productivity to be managed effectively
• Administration of consignment notes and delivery notes should be 100% accurate.
• Ensure effective administration in line with best practice
• Ensure compliance with and management of all labour and employer/employee related laws and ethical business standards
• Involved in annual budget setting and daily management of unit within budget
Minimum Requirements:
Education and Experience:
• Std. 10/Grade 12
• Further related studies in e.g., Logistics, Supply Chain etc. advantageous
• Minimum 5 years' extensive experience in packhouse management
• Experience in packing of fruit e.g. citrus essential (mangoes and litchi's an added advantage)
• Knowledge of electronic sizing equipment - Maf Roda packline / other packline system a pre-requisite
Knowledge and Skills:
• Computer skills - MS Office, Outlook, etc.
• Must be literate and conversant in Afrikaans and English
• A third language will be an advantage
• Prepared to work long hours/overtime
