Shift: Full time, Days, Rotating weekend.

Reporting to the Supply & Distribution Supervisor, is responsible for supplying NCH main campus and off site centers with supplies and materials as needed on a timely basis

This position is required to work independently under direct or indirect supervision. The employee receives assignments and is expected to carry them through to completion with substantial independence. Work is reviewed for adherence to instructions, accuracy, completeness and conformance to standards of practice or precedent.
• Fill stock requisitions, phone requests, scans par carts with handheld scanner to inventory par location replenishes par locations to par levels. Insures that external corrugated shipping containers are not left in the par locations. Checks for expiration dating while restocking assigned areas and main inventory. Monthly, signs the expiration list on the assigned units and in main inventory.
• Fills crash carts to prescribed levels and manages the pickup and delivery between unit and pharmacy locations. Fills specialty carts to prescribed levels. Orders rental beds via on-line website.
• Follows scanning sequences as established in the electronic resource planning system for receiving, dock logging, delivery, vendor returns, issues, department returns, maintaining par level reorder points, par counting, and release and close warehouse shipments at completion of picking orders.
• Unloads incoming shipments and inspects for damage or defective merchandise. Checks for accuracy of shipments and records any discrepancies prior to signing off on receipt, invoice, or electronic device. Matches packing slip against items received, records discrepancies on packing slip, and notifies Receiving and Purchasing on the same day as received.
• Operates pallet jacks, flatbeds, hand trucks, and hospital vehicles (upon successful completion of background check) for transporting supplies and equipment. Performs a maintenance check on all vehicles per schedule.
• Places incoming stock items in designated areas for storage; delivers all non-stock items according to policy. Delivers all special order items received from Receiving or the appropriate departments on a timely basis.
• Records and reports out-of-stock items to the Supervisor.
• Decontamination Area: Wears personal protective equipment (PPE) as indicated and consistent with the task at hand. Selects correct manufacturer’s instructions for processing device and complies with all instructions for cleaning and decontamination of equipment.
• Participates in the report huddle at the beginning and end of every shift. Report includes; at a minimum, the status of par locations, inventory receiving “putaway” and equipment.
• Reads email notifications in a timely manner. Maintains a clean and organized work environment.
• Assists various departments with the movement of supplies and equipment as requested; major office moves are not included.
• Follows the courier route listing, picks up all hospital mail and packages from local post office.
• Assists in training of new personnel in the department.
• Performs other related duties, as needed.
• Adheres to all Northwest Community Hospital and department standards, policies, and procedures
• The level of knowledge normally obtained through the completion of four years of high school or the equivalent.
• Current Illinois driver’s license required.
• Demonstrated ability in reading comprehension and to accurately perform basic math.
• Familiarity with general computer operations. Demonstrated ability to operate a computer and handheld scanning device.
• Demonstrated knowledge of and/or experience in the correct use of body mechanics for lifting and the ability to lift heavy objects/packages.
• The ability to perform detailed tasks accurately.
• The reading and comprehension skills necessary to interpret shipping documents and instructions and to learn and understand material handling terminology.
• The ability to learn to use a computer system for the storage and retrieval of data and the skills to perform minor mathematical calculations.
• The customer service skills to appropriately interact with guests and all hospital staff - particularly nursing and clinical staff.
• The mechanical ability to assemble shelving, carts, and operate departmental equipment.
• The flexibility to handle multiple tasks on a daily basis with frequent interruptions.
• The knowledge of basic medical terminology, supplies and equipment.

Physical Requirements
• Heavy physical effort. Requires continuously lifting or moving heavy weight material, commonly over 50 pounds, or frequently lifting or moving heavy weight material in difficult work positions. Also requires continuously standing and walking.
• Requires physical agility, good vision, color discrimination and ability to read fine print on hand held device and the computer; fine hand manipulation and finger dexterity in both hands; working and / or reaching above and below shoulder level.
• Flow of work involves normal mental and visual attention along with manual coordination.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
• At least one disagreeable element or hazard is frequently present in the environment, while several disagreeable elements or hazards are occasionally present. Frequent exposure to contaminated equipment, chemicals, noise, unpleasant odors and substances, sharp objects and infections blood borne pathogens.
• Responsibilities of the position can expose the employee to conditions that can be hot and humid due to required personal protective equipment: face shield, mask, gloves, gown or protective apron.
• May be assigned alternate shifts, holidays and weekends. Scheduling to include rotation to weekends, holidays and alternate shifts
