Job Description

Establishes and promotes the maintenance of a safe, accident free and healthy work environment by performing established duties. Must be familiar with all aspects of security responsibilities and be capable of interacting with a wide variety of people including patients, visitors, law enforcement officers and employees

Education
• High School Diploma or equivalency required
• Bachelor's degree preferred

Experience
• Minimum of 3 years' experience in related field preferred
• Requires a valid Driver’s License
• International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety (IAHSS) Basic Training, preferred.

Responsibilities And Duties
• Promotes and provides for the security and safety of patients, employees and visitors.
• Protects the organizations buildings, assets and premises as assigned.
• Understands the importance of patient safety and actively participates in safe practices.
• Identifies and reports actual events and potentially hazardous situations as outlines in hospital procedures.
• Performs Internal surveillance tours of all areas of the assigned campus.
• Performs External surveillance tours either through vehicle or on foot of all external areas of the assigned campus.
• Reports- Completed reports which are reviewed for the following components: Complete, timeliness, clarity, accuracy and legibility. DARs, Case and other reporting forms will be inclusive detailing activity, contacts, actions, and resolution
• Customer Service- Responds to requests for services in a courteous and timely manner.
• Restraints and Seclusion- A Security Officer should be able to exhibit knowledge and cooperation with nursing, special documentation, verbalizes security concerns, applies restraints efficiently and communicates with patients in accordance with established policy & competencies.
• Locking/Unlocking & Special Requests- Performs requests/tasks on a timely basis and properly documents requests.
