Brief description:
The responsibilities of a boilermaker will include shaping pieces, assemble and tack weld components for final welding. The boiler maker is responsible for fabrication duties in the manufacturing process and uses technical drawings and various tools to fabricate to the required standard
To be successful as a boilermaker, you should be proficient in welding skills, be physically fit, and demonstrate good reading comprehension. Ultimately, a top-notch boilermaker should have the ability to detect and fix problems, excellent mechanical skills.
Tasks:
Reading and interpreting of technical drawings.
Evaluating all engineering drawings and ensuring implementation according to fabrication specifications.
Contribute to a culture of zero harm by adhering to all requirements as laid down by legislation health, safety, environmental, and security policies and procedures, and by the application of specific instructions to own work area and task completion.
GMAW/MIG and MMA welding
Performing modification and repair work.
Cutting, bending, and shaping materials as per the product requirements.
Fabricating and tack welding components in preparation for welding.
Translate requirements into layouts and manufacture of required items and then install items safely and according to specifications using various types of equipment to develop/ construct items.
Perform routine maintenance and condition monitoring of equipment structural components.
Preparing material for welding by means of grinding, cutting, and assembling.
Ensure workshop quality, safety, and security procedures are adhered to at all times.
Provide Daily, Weekly, and Monthly reports to supervisor.
Willing to work after hours and on weekends.
Ensuring compliance with health and safety requirements
Ensuring compliance to QMS standards
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Experience:
Qualified Trade Tested (Red Seal) Artisan Boilermaker
3 – 5 years operational experience
GMAW and MMA process welding experience
Possession of a driver’s license
Competencies:
Reading and interpreting of drawings
Ability to work independently and prepare metal requirements.
Working knowledge of mechanical equipment
Ability to draw, read, interpret and produce basic drawings.
Technical/ theoretical (gas cutting, welding)
All safety aspects at work
Identification of defects and reporting to supervisor
Knowledge of Stainless steel and Mild steel
Welding in all positions
Knowledge of inspection techniques
Knowledge on ASME and EN ISO Fabrication codes. AWS D1.1 included.
