Introduction

Voltano is an experienced electricity and water management company. We act as an on-site municipality to manage the electricity and water supplies to residential estates, shopping centres, commercial developments and businesses. With our input, estate managers, body corporate’s, tenants and residents are assured that they will receive reliable services, delivered through state-of-the-art equipment using advanced billing and account management systems. Additional services offered include network maintenance and engineering of electricity and water systems.

Voltano is looking for an experience Technical Manager who will provide high level assistance, management, expertise and technical support for all meter installations, inspections, billing and special projects. In addition the incumbent will be responsible for the stock issuing and management for the Region.

Duties & Responsibilities

Pre-Billing
• Determine and allocate resources to each estate to ensure that Billing deadlines are met.
• Ensure that all pre-billing checks are concluded to ensure smooth billing inclusive of AMR Meter Functionality testing.
• Check an verify algorithm for Estimates.
• Arrange for pre-consumption reading checks to be done where required.

Billing
• Receive and consolidate all meter readings submitted by Technicians for the various sites to ensure completeness.

Post Billing
• Draft consumption report and determine the priority Estate in accordance with losses in water, electricity or gas.
• Address maintenance or report issues which were reported during billing and action accordingly.
• Conduct a post billing audit on total estimates.

Suspensions and re-instatements
• Receive a list of estates and units that are in default which needs to be suspended and assign the relevant Estate to the Technicians together with the form which needs to be completed.
• Schedule Technician to reinstate services on confirmation from Account Agent.

Termination of Services
• On receipt of a task request from Client Services for services to be terminated, task Technician to obtain final meter reading.

Installation of Meters and Metering Equipment.
• On Receipt of a Task from Client Services to install new devices, task Technician to conduct pre-inspection.
• Distribute the required stock based on pre-inspection visit conducted by Technician.

New Service Connection request or additional Services
• Respond to request for new meter installation
• Schedules technical team to install meter as per arrangement made with client.
• Update returned stock as received from Technician and balance stock records.

Installation of Water, gas and Electrical Reticulation network
• Attend to water, gas and electrical reticulation requests.

Maintenance on Electricity, Water and Gas Networks.
• Draft a maintenance schedule for the year.
• Draft and implement an action plan to ensure maintenance targets are achieved.
• Task Technicians with maintenance schedule, provide the required stock and forms for completion.
• Study maintenance reports received and compile a final report of findings.
• Task and schedule maintenance required based on findings.
• Schedule weekly inspections on generators.
• Schedule weekly inspections at Substations.
• Investigate Technical Complaints received from customers.

Technical quote/Invoicing requests
• Obtain request for hardware.
• Provide labour, travel and material costs to Logistics Controller for quote generation.
• Submit quote to customer and follow-up with client until approval/decline.
• Place order with supplier.
• Provide report of outstanding quote approvals to Technical Ops

Standby Services for after hours Service Delivery and Emergencies.
• Compile a rotational standby roster for standby.
• Capture call out fees as indicated on call out slips and update stock returned and job cards accordingly.

Installation, monitoring and Maintenance of AMR Equipment
• Schedule weekly inspections of AMR equipment.

Investigate Account Readings
• Task Technician to obtain photo meter reading.

Engineering
• Feedback to Head Office on engineering works on site.
• Provide support to project office where engineering drawings are required.

Stock control
• Issue stock as per requirements for each individual job in Region.
• Receive stock from Head Office and verify accuracy of orders received.

H&S
• Ensure that all work is completed in line with OHASA regulations.

Leadership
• Effectively train and coach employees on work methods to improve their capabilities.
• Conduct performance reviews with direct reports.
• Approve leave requests received from subordinates.

Time sheet management
• Consolidate hours on site, leave, sick leave and overtime for all technical employees.
• Track vehicles, verify hours claimed by technicians and log on job cards accordingly.

Desired Experience & Qualification

Qualifications:
• Matric with a N5 technical qualification or equivalent.
• Electrical Trade Test completed

Experience:
• 5-8 years proven experience in a similar role with Technical / Electrical background coupled with 3-5 years experience controlling the work of a group of Technicians.
• Technical experience at a Residential Estates will be an advantage.

Knowledge and Skills:
• Excellent communication skills, oral and written
• Advanced knowledge of electricity, specifically to kWh and KVA

Package & Remuneration

R200 000 - R300 000 based on past job experience
