We have an exciting opportunity for a number of Pharmacy Technicians to join our
Pharmacy team, working across one of the largest providers of acute care in the North
East. In Pharmacy, we pride ourselves in working at the leading edge of clinical
pharmacy practice and medicines management with our teams winning national
recognition for innovative, high-quality patient care.
You must be registered, or in the process of being registered, with the General
Pharmaceutical Council and hold Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Pharmacy Service Skills and
Level 3 Diploma in Pharmaceutical Science (QCF) or equivalent qualifications.
These developmental posts provide an opportunity to progress from a Band 4 Technician
to a Band 5 Technician, after successfully completing a comprehensive training and
competency framework, over a maximum period of 2 years. For the two year training
period you will be paid 70% of the top of the Band 5 pay scale in year one and 75% of
the top of Band 5 pay scale in year two. On successful completion of the training, the pay
reverts to the bottom of the Band 5 pay scale and you will work through the grade pay
steps as normal.
Please note you will be required to sign a training agreement to confirm that if you fail to
achieve the competencies by the end of the 24 months, you will remain in post at
Band 4 level.
There is also an opportunity to transfer directly onto the Band 5 pay scale for those
applicants with the relevant qualifications, experience and competencies.
You will work under the management of the Lead Pharmacy Technicians to ensure a
safe and efficient service is maintained. The Pharmacy Team covers Bishop Auckland
Hospital, Darlington Memorial Hospital, University Hospital of North Durham and 5
other community hospitals.
The successful post holders will be based at Bishop Auckland Hospital, Darlington
Memorial Hospital or University Hospital of North Durham but will be expected to cover
roles at the other hospitals, as and when the need arises, on a rotational basis.
