About the role

We are currently on the lookout for a dedicated SHES Advisor to work at our client site in Syama Gold Mine in Mali. This role will report to the Manager SHES Africa.

The primary purpose of this critical role is to provide guidance and advice on key activities within the relevant Manufacturing Centre or Sub Regional SHES department.

What you will be doing
• Participating in continuous improvement processes and problem-solving activities within the Explosive Plant and Sub-Regional Area;
• Contributing to the development and implementation of SHES management systems;
• Participating and supporting SHES assurance activities;
• Assisting in event investigations and supporting the development of a SHES risk profile;
• Championing SHES values and behaviours at all levels of the organisation, manage and communicate change and improvement strategies;
• Coordinating training programs, in conjunction with Orica SHES network as appropriate and implementing Corporate and Orica SHES initiatives;
• Leading the Plant personnel in ensuring SHES standards are achieved in their areas;
• Ensuring regulatory compliance is maintained and monitored in business;
• Participating in investigations of serious and significant incidents to ensure root causes are established and all appropriate corrective actions are put in place and monitored ensuring implementation and closure;
• Providing the SHES Manager Africa and business with advice on SHES issues;
• Monitoring SHES performance and improvement plans and provide consultation, coordination and Risk Assessment activities for the business;
• Providing mentoring / coaching for business personnel to ensure that SHES considerations are included in business decision processes;
• Supporting overall commercial functions with appropriate SHES support and information to improve services;
• Participating and supporting the SHES Manager Africa in scheduled audit process for operations and supporting the action close-out process;
• Implementing and facilitating SHES training, as required, for employees, contractors, visitors and line management;
• Providing guidance on Physical Security issues and support the businesses in developing and implementing Security plans and programs.

What you will bring
• Minimum 3 to 6 years’ SHES experience post qualification;
• Explosive Management qualification will be advantageous.
• Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships with a range of stakeholders;
• Ability to plan, influence & execute;
• Strong written and verbal communication skills to present strategic logic and recommended pathways, coupled with the ability to present to key stakeholders.
