makes Desert Radiology the premier choice for outpatient imaging procedures. POSITION SUMMARYDesert
Radiology in Las Vegas, Nevada is seeking a Medical Receptionist that will greet patients,
coordinate required paperwork and process patient appointments. POSITION DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES1.
Greets patients in
a polite, prompt and helpful manner.
Provides direction, information and other assistance to patients as
necessary. 2.
Provides
appropriate forms to patient for completion and signature. If necessary, provides exam preparation
instructions and materials.3.
Inputs and/or
verifies information in radiology information system (RIS/PACS) to ensure
accuracy and/or receipt of the patient, referring physician, insurance, and
exam data.4.
Collects the
appropriate fees from the patients as determined by the insurance provided, if
any. Makes correct change, when necessary, and generates a receipt for payment.5.
Assists in balance
sheet transactions for daily deposit. Immediately reports any discrepancies
with deposit to Office Supervisor. 6.
Reviews scheduled
patient appointments and may contact patients, via telephone, to confirm
appointment date, time, and location.
Advises the patient of any preparations required for the procedure, when
necessary.7.
Schedules patient
exams based upon physician and facility availability. Orders labs as necessary.8.
Answers phones in a
pleasant manner and handles patient needs timely and appropriately.9.
Maintains adequate
level of office supplies and reorders as necessary. Ensures office equipment is
operating properly and contacts appropriate party for equipment repair. 10.
Assists in
maintaining a clean, orderly waiting area.11.
At certain
facilities, may perform back-up medical records duties, as necessary. DESIRED PROFESSIONAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCEThis position calls for a highly organized individual as
their role will require self-direction, flexibility, and a capacity to give and
receive feedback graciously. The Medical Receptionist should possess the
following professional qualifications and personal attributes:1.
Knowledge of
medical reception tasks, clinic procedures, medical terminology and paperwork
processing requirements.2.
Knowledge of and
experience in using office equipment including telephone, fax, computer and
photocopier.3.
Knowledge of and
experience in using radiology-related computer systems (RIS/PACS).4.
Knowledge of
customer service concepts and techniques.5.
Ability to
communicate clearly in person and on the telephone. 6.
Ability to use
interpersonal skills to effectively interact with physicians, other facility
staff, patients and families when providing instructions or responding to
questions or exchanging patient-related information. 7.
Ability to organize
and prioritize tasks effectively.8.
Ability to read,
understand and follow oral and written instructions. Ability to file correctly by alphabetic or
numeric system.9.
Ability to maintain
confidentiality of patient record information.10.
Strong customer
service skills and the ability to keyboard proficiently PHYSICIAL AND MENTAL DEMANDSPosition
requires sitting for six to seven hours per day; eye-hand coordination and
finger dexterity; ability to view computer screens for long periods and hear
within normal range; ability to transfer patient files from one area to
another. Position may be stressful at
times due to workload and/or dealing with difficult patients.
