The Role

As part of our growing footprint, we are looking to engage a Business Development Representative to cater to our clients in the Ugandan market. The Business Development Representative will be part of the Marketing and Growth team responsible for building brand awareness, promoting brand engagement and delivering revenue and positive growth.

The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with a proven track record selling consulting solutions to senior leaders in the private, public and not-for-profit sectors. We are looking for an ambitious team player that won’t shy away from aggressive growth targets.

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Team Leader – Growth and Marketing and dotted to the CEO, the BD Representative will be responsible for the following:
• Identifying, making contact and driving revenue growth with potential customers to drive interest in the services Cedar has to offer.
• Proactively fostering deeper relationships with existing clients to unearth additional needs and identify opportunities to continue to grow and expand the business.
• Collaborating with wider growth and marketing team and leadership to identify and convert prospective clients.
• Attending networking events to build and maintain professional relationships.
• Managing all aspects of the client acquisition process from identifying new opportunities, assessing the needs of the client, authoring compelling proposals, evaluating business fit and negotiating contracts;
• Crafting results-oriented proposals in collaboration with prospective clients that position Cedar’s value proposition and address the client’s specific needs;
• Building a strong and healthy sales pipeline and converting leads and opportunities to achieve desired sales targets;
• Maintaining relationships with clients by providing support, information, and guidance; researching and recommending new opportunities;
• Seeking to establish any available gaps that may exist within the market and report on the same for purposes of making sound business decisions;
• Maintaining current competitor and market knowledge.

Person Qualities

We are looking for a go-getter that is enthusiastic, passionate about sales, has high energy, is very ambitious, energised by targets, is strategic minded and has a strong focus on results.

Knowledge and Experience
• Experience in a consulting/professional services environment as an independent consultant, business advisor or internal consultant or a business development or client success role in executive education;
• Technical knowledge and competence in at least two of the following areas: organisational change, leadership development and coaching, or talent acquisition & development;
• Demonstrable experience in B2B sales and engagement;
• High level of interpersonal and emotional intelligence including the ability to handle complex client situations with poise, tact and diplomacy;
• Strong and demonstratable contacts and relationships with senior level decision makers across a variety of sectors;
• Ability to interact and communicate with individuals at all levels from senior leadership to individual contributors;
• Exceptional writing skills with high attention to detail and quality; and
• Certification in Prosci© change management program is an advantage.

Part-time (24 hours per week) fixed-term contract for 1 year (Renewable)
