General Job Description

The Borneo Nature Foundation (BNF) carries out activities to restore degraded peat ecosystems in a sustainable and community-based manner as an action to accelerate the recovery of degraded areas through wetting, revegetation, revitalization and area protection. This activity is carried out so that the hydrological conditions, structure and function of ecosystems in damaged areas can recover more quickly and/or approach their original characteristics and functions either through natural succession, hydrological restoration, revegetation restoration, and/or according to the latest developments in science and technology.

Borneo Nature Foundation as a non-profit organization engaged in conservation and the environment works together and supports the government in restoration activities of degraded peat swamp forest areas, protection of Kalimantan wildlife, and social revitalization around the area, one of which is through hydrological restoration of degraded areas. canals, and revegetation restoration activities in burnt protected areas in the BNF cooperation area.

The Habitat Restoration Officer is expected to be able to support the activities of the BNF Sebangau Landscape Program Habitat Restoration Division. The Habitat Restoration Officer's field of work is related to the protection and restoration of degraded forest areas due to canalization through activities to accelerate area recovery by building canal blocks (dams) and monitoring canal hydrological conditions before and after block construction, as well as collecting and analyzing data results from field teams. The Habitat Restoration Officer is also tasked with accelerating revegetation restoration in degraded areas planned for restoration by planting and monitoring yield data. The Habitat Restoration Officer will carry out duties both on an office basis and on field visits that are relevant to the assignment in accordance with their position.

Experienced Habitat Restoration Officers are expected to be able to master hydrological techniques, canal techniques and water systems (dams/canal blocks), master forestry techniques, forestry plant nurseries and management, planting, monitoring and use of field survey tools to facilitate planning implementation, constraint analysis fieldwork, analysis of yield data, and explanation to the team about the use of survey tools used by the team in the field such as water flow meters, water level gauges and loggers, GPS, Avenza/AlpineQuest , maps and Mapping Software (ArcGis/Qgis), Kompas , seed meter, and other relevant survey tools/software is a plus
