Grade 3 Podiatrist
• Part time, permanent, 16 hours p/w
• Podiatry leadership role

• $40-46K (part time) base + salary packaging + super

About The Podiatry And High-Risk Foot Service

The Podiatry and High-Risk Foot Service operates across all sites and campuses of Austin Health including the Austin Hospital, Heidelberg Repatriation Hospital and Royal Talbot Rehabilitation Center. We deliver services within specialist outpatient clinics and admitted inpatient streams, both at home and in hospital.

Our services implement high quality evidence-based assessment and intervention for acute foot conditions. We partner with our clients to deliver best practice care in the community or hospital setting, aiming to reduce or prevent clinical deterioration, complications, time in hospital and amputation. We collaborate broadly with teams across our health network, GPs, community nursing services and Podiatrists to ensure integrated, patient centered care is well coordinated.

The large multi-disciplinary team works in a supportive and collaborative model including Endocrinology, Infectious diseases, Vascular Surgery, Orthotics, Psychology and Diabetes Education. We work closely with specialty units such as Complex Care, Chronic Wound and Amputee Rehab. Our Podiatry team consists of a Podiatry Manager, High Risk foot service clinical coordinator, senior podiatry staff and administration ensuring the successful candidate is well supported.

About The Role

A regular day will see you:
• Supporting the service to deliver best practice assessment and intervention for complex high risk foot clients across a busy inpatient streams
• Collaborating positively with teams within our health network and the community to ensure effective, coordinated care is delivered
• Participating in innovation, research and risk management

About You

Ideally, you’ll have:
• Relevant clinical and leadership experience in health care settings
• Competency to assess, plan and implement appropriate Podiatric interventions for the high risk foot including comprehensive discharge planning for clients.
• An active, positive approach to delivering interdisciplinary team-based care
• Flexibility to work across different programs and stream to support the delivery of services
• A commitment to involving clients in their care and shared decision making
• A willingness to initiate and participate in supervision and ongoing professional development.
