At SeaView, it is our mission to provide community-based services that strengthen families, foster self-sufficiency and enhance quality of life. As a Peer Support Specialist at our Recovery Center in Seward, AK, you will work with our team, providing 1-on-1 and group services to adults living with substance use disorders/co-occurring conditions.

Peer Support Specialists monitor client behavior, provide support in a variety of settings, implement treatment plans and provide individual and group skill building services that support recovery. In addition, Peer Support Specialists also supervise clients’ daily activities, including, but not limited to housekeeping, hygiene, budgeting, medication observation, recovery homework and participation in the addiction recovery community.

SeaView is the premier provider of Behavioral Health services for the Eastern Kenai Peninsula, serving as the Community Behavioral Health Center and offering key residential and outpatient programs in both Mental Health and Substance Use. SeaView works diligently every day to expand access and utilization of behavioral health services with the goal of improving the mental health status of our community and decreasing substance misuse. We are excited about the opportunity to add two additional Peer Supports to our team to support us in accomplishing great things for our community.

MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
(Any Equivalent Combination of Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education and Experience.)
Education: High school diploma or GED. College course work in related area of psychology, human services, social work, education or communications is a plus.
Experience: Prefer one year of experience working with individuals with a substance use disorder.
Skills: Ability to make decisions in emergency situations. Warm, caring, patient and reliable. Ability to consult effectively with fellow workers and to work as a team member. Always treat individuals with dignity and respect. Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
Licensure/Certification: Valid driver’s license.
Other: TB test, pre-employment drug/alcohol screening, criminal background check and satisfactory driving record.
