Job Description Summary El Gatun Panama Project

All resources, and logistics are required to perform services and maintenance activities on customers' site/property in Panama. These activities contribute to, maintain, repair and refurbish sold or existing products. Includes all types of maintenance service (preventive and remedial), manage maintenance facilities and field services engineering. Impacts departmental operations and responsible for planning/execution. The role has some autonomy but is focused on execution of activities within an operating discipline covered by standard functional practices and procedures. Some judgment may be required but this is typically with guidance.

Job DescriptionWork location is PanamaRoles and Responsibilities
• All on site life extensions, repairs and inspection-related service activities for installed fleets and supervision for construction and commissioning of new and existing equipment, able to be performed at customer site. Includes onsite machining, NDT, blading, winding, critical welding, generator diagnostics. Able to make Engineering decisions.
• Developing in-depth knowledge of a technical discipline. Uses prior experience and acquired technical expertise to execute policy/strategy.
• In-depth understanding of key business drivers; uses this understanding to accomplish own work. In-depth understanding of how work of own team integrates with other teams and contributes to the area.
• Uses some level of judgment and has ability to propose different solutions outside of set parameters but with guidance. Uses prior experience and on-the-job training to solve straightforward tasks. Has access to technical skills and analytic thinking required to solve problems. May use multiple internal sources outside of own team to arrive at decisions.
• A job holder at this level should be an individual contributor with proven interpersonal skills or is an early people leader who can hire and develop talent. Provides informal guidance to new team members

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
• Actively manage controls activities on site during Installation and Commissioning and Maintenance of heavy duty equipment, including but not limited to oversight of installation, maintenance, troubleshooting and diagnostics
• Overall responsibility of the management of site activities including planning, organizing, integrating and directing of resources such as labor, tools and materials as required to complete the work scope according to contractual requirements
• Understand PLC ladder logic, including basic understanding of how to navigate through ladder rungs while troubleshooting
• Read and interpret electrical/mechanical flow and instrument diagrams
• Ensure the correct installation, pre-commissioning, commissioning and maintenance practices are followed
• Provide general knowledge of equipment instrumentation calibration, including various types of transmitters
• Provide technical expertise to customers, service support, field technicians and operators
• Provide timely and accurate internal and external reports
• Ensure contractual obligations are met and attend technical meetings with Customers
• Ensure all in-field activities are carried out safely complying with company environmental, health, and safety (EHS) guidelines and procedures
• Provide expert consultation on complex projects
• Provide customers with technical direction and support on Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) packaged products
• Ability and willingness to work holidays, weekends and overtime as required by field assignments

Required Qualifications
• Bachelor Degree in Engineering and Certified by GE or Field Core as Speedtronic Mark VIe engineer with experience in power plant maintenance, turbine generator maintenance, or power plant equipment installation/ commissioning.
• Successful completion of TFA III training programs is a minimum requirement.
• Demonstrated progressive, responsible experience with various types of equipment and site accountabilities is required
• Fluency in English
• Mobility to work in Panama and leave to home country every 90 days

Desired Characteristics
• Experienced level. Has the knowledge and skill to oversee outage management within a competency and may possess expertise in a secondary competency. Demonstrates mentor and team lead skills.
• Experience with Gas Turbine Driver Control Systems and Auxiliary Systems
• Experience on Mark VI, Mark Vie, Mark V controls systems, preferable
• Ability to understand and implement controls software
• Wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected
• Strong analytic, organizational and problem-solving skills
• Excellent customer, communication, and interpersonal skills
• Strong computer skills
• Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals
• Ability to work independently
• Fluency in Spanish
