Description
The Operations and Maintenance Coordinator job is to insure the safe, continuous mechanical operation of the ferries. This is accomplished by completing and managing these job functions described in greater detail below.
l) Develop and then administer a compressive maintenance plan that covers all the vessel machinery, systems and structure. This will include assignments of planned maintenance tasks to subordinates and insuring completion of these tasks following manufacturer's guidelines and proper engineering practice.
Provide documentation of all vessel planned maintenance tasks in the company maintenance data base
Provide reports to the vessel Operations Manager, senior managers and owners, of past documented and current maintenance tasks. These will include active work, short term daily, weekly, and monthly tasks, as well as long term machinery hour driven tasks.
The Operations and Maintenance Coordinator will work closely with the Operations
Manager to follow all regulatory compliance guidelines such as in water USCG inspections, out of water USCG hull inspections and out of water hull maintenance. This work must follow strict timelines and be well planned.
The Operations and Maintenance Coordinator is responsible for unanticipated repairs to the vessels and their machinery, systems and structure. This is done by becoming personally involved in the repair work, as well as enlisting the help of approved subcontractors. This work should be done as quickly as possible all the while insuring the safety of personnel and diligent care of the machinery or systems being repaired. The same documentation and reporting guidelines applied in the planned maintenance work should also be applied in the unanticipated repair work.
Maintenance and unanticipated repairs should be expedited by the Maintenance Manager by insuring that there are spare parts and equipment on hand or close by. Proper tooling, machinery manuals, and a tidy work shop are also very important details.
The Operations and Maintenance Coordinator and is responsible for the development and administration of the Maintenance and repair budget. This budget will incorporate the assignment and oversight of personnel work hours, major and minor machinery purchases, maintenance supplies and equipment and tooling required for the job. These budget items will be monitored on a weekly and a long term basis.
Identifying and hiring of appropriate staff as required to assist in the fore mentioned duties will be the Coordinator responsibility. Proper personnel management, based on company human resource policies and good management practices are required
