Your challenge! Reporting to the Plant Manager, and serving as an expert in OHS, the Health & Safety Specialist is tasked with coordinating OHS activities and analyzing the results of performance indicators. You will help to implement your group's strategic plan and support management in implementing the OHS strategy. You will also contribute to risk prevention and the resolution of OHS-related problems as well as disseminate best practices in OHS within your plant. We are hiring NOW for this position, and successful applicants can expect to start immediately! The Bear Island Mill is the newest addition to the Cascades Containerboard Packaging lineup. This state-of-the-art facility will offer one of the lightest high end, 100% recycled linerboard and medium products on the market. The mill is currently under construction and start up is scheduled for December 2022. This position begins before plant completion. Job Responsibilities - Promote OHS culture among unit management personnel - Effectively coordinate OHS activities and reporting (audits, investigations, emergency measures, OHS committee, etc.) - Rigorously monitor performance indicators and analyze the results - Contribute, as OHS expert, to implementing your group's strategic plan within your plant - Help to implement the OHS management system and training - Support your plant management in implementing the OHS strategy - Advise your plant management on best practices in OHS - Support your management team in risk prevention and OHS problem solving - Ensure the continuity of the first aid program and ensure a sufficient number of first aiders Experience and Education OHS certification - Bachelor's degree (Industrial Environmental Compliance preferred) - 5
years experience in this role - Manufacturing experience required, Pulp & Paper experience an asset - Comfortable with performing physically demanding tasks at times - Ability to develop, implement and as necessary, train, new safety programs, procedures and policies. Salary Range:
$80K -- $100K
