Role Purpose

To oversee the Compliance Monitoring function in the bank.

Responsibilities
• Lead a team to deliver against performance targets.
• Oversee the Compliance Monitoring program based on the Regulatory Universe.
• Ensure the Compliance Monitoring program substantively covers all key regulations.
• Demonstrate subject matter expertise on key legislation impacting the bank.
• Demonstrate foresight in the design of the annual Monitoring plan as well as ad-hoc monitoring engagements based on existing and emerging legislation.
• Oversee and manage the control validation activities and act as a second line of defense to provide an independent oversight. Recommends adequate, effective and efficient risk management controls.
• Advises on and provides support to stakeholders in relation to the control design to ensure Compliance relevant legislation, frameworks, processes and tools.
• Provides expert input to committees on compliance related matters to ensure informed decision making.
• Submit monthly and quarterly reports identifying regulatory risks and controls, summarizing major findings, issues and outstanding remediation items to Governance forum and Board.
• Manage own Personal Development Plans (PDP) and ensures completion and implementation and the PDP’s of the Monitoring Team.
• Achievement of wider human capital objectives in ensuring the team’s skill set remains relevant.
• Develop, manage and nurture collaborative relationships across business areas and across the bank.
• Establish mutually beneficial relationships with stakeholders that support thought leadership, innovative and integrated practice solutions.

Qualifications and Experience
• 10 years post graduate experience in a Compliance, Internal or External audit preferably in a financial institution.
• At least 5 years of Leadership experience
• Monitoring experience in a Compliance function will be an added advantage.
• Certification in Compliance and / or Data Privacy
