SALES ENGINEER / NEW BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT ENGINEER

Service regions: Sub-Saharan Africa

As a Sales and New Business Development Engineer holding a Mechanical Diploma, your primary responsibility is to sell mining component solutions to Engineering, Procurement, and Construction Management (EPCM) companies in South Africa and the African continent. Your role involves identifying the needs of your clients and providing them with customized solutions that meet their requirements. Joining the company with existing established relationships with key stakeholders in various local EPCM companies will contribute to the benefit and success of both the company and the Sales Engineer.

In addition to your mechanical expertise, being fluent in French is a valuable asset as it will enable you to communicate effectively with French-speaking clients, potentially expanding your market reach outside Southern Africa.

Some of your key tasks as a Sales Engineer in this field may include:

Identifying potential clients and developing relationships with them.

Cold calling and new business market development and brand presence.

Understanding client requirements and providing them with customized solutions.

Preparing and delivering technical presentations to clients.

Providing technical support to clients during and after the sale.

Negotiating contracts and agreements with clients.

Preparation and compilation of tender documentation, ensure and adhere to legal compliance.

Consistent collaboration and providing both administrative and technical input with other departments in your company, such as Management, Engineering, Supply and Production, to ensure that client requirements are met within all aspects of agreed expectations.

Staying up to date with industry trends and advancements in technology both locally and globally.

Understanding and providing feedback to your company on client needs and industry trends in a strategic marketing and solutions approach.

To be successful in this role, you will need to have excellent communication skills, both in English and French, and be comfortable with presenting technical information to clients in a professional and comprehensive conduct.

You should also have a good understanding of the mining industry and the components that are used in mining machinery and equipment in material handling, including but not limited to maintenance, service delivery, health and safety, the various mine Acts and continuous improvement plans of the end user.

In addition, you will need to have a strong sales track record, be self-motivated, and be able to work independently. You should also be willing to travel frequently, as this role may require you to visit clients in various locations within South Africa and the extended countries within the African continent. A valid South African passport, identification and driver's license is therefore desired.
