There are very good prospects for an extension. Employment location will be Dedza, Malawi. The position is paid according to pay grade. . The site superviser will work in close colaboration with the project team and be in charge of monitoring all WASH construction and borehole drilling works, ensuring highest quality standards, adherence to all Malawi standards for Water Supply and Sanitation facilities, and ensure and timely completion and documentation. The site spervisor will provide technical training to communities and area technicians. He/She will contribute to achieving the projects goals and objectives as per the project proposal. Your responsibilities Responsibilities and Duties • Supervise construction and drilling contractors as well as monitoring and controlling their performance. • Ensure that all works are conducted as per international and Malawian standards. • Identify sub-standard works and immediately report to the project coordinator and head of project. • Regularly inspect contractor’s equipment, material, and conduct routine site inspections. • Support the accomplishment of project goals, determine required resources, and resource allocations. • Establish and monitor protocols and standards. • Draw up and monitor work schedules, and ensure adherence. • Identify and help resolving design problems. • Develop cost estimates and adjustments as needed, and manage change orders • Meet operational standards, help resolving problems, contribute information to strategic plans, and identify improvements. • Maintain healthy and safe work environment by enforcing procedures and standards and complying with legal regulations. • Ensuring teams work together to deliver quality work to strict deadlines. • Provide technical training to communities and support as required. Your profile Qualifications and Skills: • Advanced certificate in City & Guild- Construction. • Diploma in Civil Engineering. • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, or engineering. • Minimum of three years’ experience in the construction/borehole drilling industry. • Excellent technical knowledge in water supply and sanitation technologies. • Knowledge of working in the NGO sector • Strong leadership skills. • Excellent organization and planning skills to prioritize and balance work. • Ability to lead others in the completion of a schedule. • Great verbal and written communication skills. • Valid driver’s license (Cars and motorbikes). • Computer proficient, with experience in MS Excel, Project, Power Point and Word. Key Requirements: • A positive attitude and willingness to encourage co-workers. • Proven problem solving and organizational skills, flexibility and calm under pressure • Excellent written and spoken communications skills in English and Chichewa. Other spoken languages in Malawi are an advantage. • Excellent knowledge in rural water supply technologies. • Very good knowledge in WASH Systems Strengthening. • Very good experience in supervising construction projects. • Ability to set priorities and exercise flexibility where necessary. • Understanding of safety procedures and recognition of hazards. • Willingness to be vaccinated against Covid-19. • Adherence to the WHH Code of Conduct.
