I don't but a lot of people carry folding umbrellas. I always get an convenience store umbrella if it's raining that much.

Just a note about the convenience store umbrellas - everyone has an identical one, so sometimes they get taken if you leave it in an umbrella stand outside a shop.

It really depends how much you'll be outside and what season and where. But sometimes it's pouring rain, so you'll need it. But if you're in the big city, you can go into a store or find a convenience store.
