I've been in Japan a while but it's my first time losing something and I feel really dumb for not knowing what to do. Do I just tell the person at the station?

You can go to the station where you got off and they'll check to see if anyone picked up or dropped off anything. If not, you can fill out a report

I lost something that had my name on it and the station called me. I don't know what you lost though. But you're not dumb for losing something. It happens to all of us.

A friend had to go to the police station to pick up his train pass because the station only holds it for a certain amount of time
