Review of Adverbs

Adverbs, called 副詞 (fukushi) in Japanese, are words that are used to add description to verbs, nouns, pronouns, and adjectives.

The most widely known and used example of an adverb in the English language is “very”, which is used as an enhancer like so, “very big” or “very bright”. The Japanese equivalent to “very” is “とても (totemo)” which we covered in N5 adverbs.

Here's an example sentence using Japanese adverb, “はっきりお話してください (hakkiri) - please speak clearly” contains “はっきり (hakkiri) - adverb meaning clearly”.

Most learners learn adverbs when they start studying Japanese. In addition to the 40 N5-level adverbs introduced in the previous article, you can express yourself more precisely by studing N4 level adverbs introduced below.
