Access to top technologies, training, and professional growth

Working in Japan as an engineer allows one to be in contact with top of the line technology, witness creation and improvement of technologies, and even be part of it. This allows professional growth on the part of the employee to further add to their credentials.

Low level or no Japanese speaking skills is not always a hindrance because there are a lot of Japanese language programs available. The corporation can refer or even conduct the said programs. It is also not rare for corporations to train employees, they are experienced or new entries. The existing staff’s skills can further be improved with training and this also allows them to make sure of the quality of new employees. This is usually followed by a contract to make sure that the employee stays in the corporation for a number of years. These transactions benefit both the management and the employee.

There are a lot of foreign engineers trying to find work in Japan. Japanese corporations had taken extra steps to reach out to these people. They can help their potential employee secure a working visa and permit, effectively hiring them even while they are outside the country.

Maintenance and quality inspections

There are a lot of top of the line technological products and machines in Japan, and they must be kept that way. One of the most common jobs of a mechanical engineer is maintenance work. They can be tasked with keeping vehicles, machines, and facilities to date for further usage. They are expected to know how to keep these things working, or at least endeavour to do so.

You can also be assigned to do product testing, inspections and quality standard checks. These are necessary in maintaining that only the best will be delivered to the customers, protecting the reputation and integrity of the corporation. Thus you are expected to know basic and standard knowledge on the line of work of the business, of which mastery comes over time.

Other responsibilities

Mechanical engineering is one of the broadest fields in engineering. The needs of different corporations vary from one that you may be asked different types of work in the same job. Depending on the line of business, it is possible to be tasked with responsibilities outside of regular work. An example is attending and joining the customer service team as an engineer. This would be to answer technical questions inquired by the customer and to give them an in depth explanation that a regular customer service employee may not be able to explain. Another is helping or even heading the design and creation of a new product. Different needs may arise depending on the line of business of the corporation and the engineer may be tasked with fulfilling with these needs.

Minimum requirement of mechanical engineering jobs

Years of Work Experience and College Degree

Companies typically ask for at least 1 year of work experience in relevant work involving AutoCAD or similar software. Managerial positions and other team leading positions however, needs at least 2 to 3 years of work experience because of their importance. Not all companies require that you must be a college graduate; some only require the applicant to be a high school graduate but must possess at least 1 year of work experience.

Engineering degree holders may also apply even without prior experience. Companies may offer training programs to new graduates provided that they are planning to stay in the company. Depending on the complexity and importance of the position, the requirement for minimum years of experience may increase or decrease. Having more experience is a good way to open more job opportunities.

Proficiency in the Japanese and English language

The Japanese language skills of the applicant must be at least conversational level. A lot of companies accept even those of a lower level provided that they are willing to enter programs to better themselves.

Comparatively, the English language skills must also be in the business level. This may lower to conversational level depending on the job but managerial positions often need to be at business level.
