Some popular places are Asakusa, Kyoto, Nara, and Shibuya (for the scramble crossing)

First timers usually always go to Kyoto, Osaka and explore Tokyo. For a completely different feel, both of culture and space, you should try to go to Okinawa or Hokkaido.
