Daruma Made from ZONe Energy Drink Cans

This 3D daruma is made from 500 ml ZONe BIG LUCK cans, a new energy drink by popular energy drink brand ZONe that was released early this year. With 2,712 likes and over 500 retweets, photos of the Daruma became a huge hit on Twitter in Japan. 

You can watch the Daruma’s making process on Kaisei’s Youtube channel where he posts making videos of many of his works. For those interested in making their own, it is very helpful.

Craftsman Kaisei 工作人 カイセイ (@YamarinPD) is a university student who makes sculptures from aluminium cans during his spare time as a hobby and also as a job. Though he mainly uses aluminium cans, he also occasionally uses other materials, such as this Gaba chocolate box into a dragon. 

Behind the Scenes: Collecting Aluminium Cans

Kaisei’s 3D daruma required 4 aluminium cans to make. He has many other projects too, including some larger scale ones that take up quite a number of aluminium cans. So, how did he collect so many aluminium cans? It can’t be that he drank them all?! 

The answer is support from family members who help gather and clean up aluminium cans for Kaisei. Whenever Kaisei returns to his family home, he finds a bunch of them ready for him to bring back.

It is heartwarming to see how supportive Kaisei’s family are of his hobby. 

And here, we have the work desk where the magic happens. This DIY work desk was put together by Keisei. It contains tools that are needed to make his sculptures.
