Yuri of Bonne Chance* yuri on Twitter (@bonnechanceyuri) makes miniatures 1/12th of their original size, from sweets to cosmetics and more! Of course the designs are incredibly cute, but they’re also very detailed! From realistic food to bags that you can actually fill with tiny items, come see how amazing these works are!

The first tweet of Bonne Chance* yuri’s that caught our eye is the following, a tiny soup dumpling being opened to reveal the soup inside. When we first saw it, we thought that someone had cooked a real miniature soup dumpling. Imagine our surprise when we found out it’s completely fake - yet looks so real!

Other variations include a shumai, and a steamed bun along with the soup dumpling. Look how cute they are! And how edible they actually look!

And then we looked into some of yuri’s other works, and were so amazed. When there’s a hand in the picture, it’s easier to see just how small these objects are.

And again, not just the outside of the miniatures, but the details inside too! Look at this apple being cut open:

And it's not just apples!

Even down to the details of packaging! In Japan, people will often send seasonal fruits as gifts, and it will be perfectly packaged like this so the fruits don't get bruised along the way. Yuri captures not only how lovely and perfect these gift fruits look, but the whole process of opening the box!

Since Yuri has a vast number of works, we split them up into general categories! Let’s take a look!!

Miniature Food by Yuri

In Japan, we often toast mochi and eat it with soy sauce, kinako (roasted soybean) powder, etc.

Yuri captures the process of the mochi rising and toasting, with a cute twist at the end! 🐰

Japanese chara-ben, short for character bentos, are an art itself with already small cut-out pieces of food, and Yuri managed to make tiny ones! 🐻

And if you ever needed a tiny assortment of pasta, she has you covered! It comes with 7 different types of pasta and a jar of tomato sauce too! 🍝🍅

If you thought the food above looked great, get ready for these sweets!

Enjoying tiny cakes! 🍰

How about an assortment of wagashi, Japanese traditional sweets? We love the pastel colors and how it’s accompanied with a nice cup of green tea. 🍵

The 4 popular chocolate flavors in Japan - milk, white, strawberry and matcha green tea! 🍫

This tweet uses the hashtag #私が快感を覚える瞬間 which means “moments I feel good”.

Miniature Cosmetics & Household Items by Yuri

Yuri also makes non-food items, and they’re not any less detailed or realistic!

Our favorite is this mini toothbrush reveal.

Taking “what’s in my bag” to a whole new level at 1/12th the scale. The banana made us laugh!

And of course to make all the food above, you need an extensive cooking utensil set.

The clips actually swinging and hanging from the umbrella hanger… just incredible.

And last but not least, check out this makeup set, redefining the concept of compact.

To Close

You can definitely tell by now just how incredibly impressed we are with Yuri’s work, and not just the details of each one, but her commitment to creating the whole set to show how her miniatures would function “in real life”. She is currently not selling any of her works, but if you check her online shop, you can see past works and the way she displays and packages them for clients.

Yuri has displayed her work at an annual Miniature Art Show in the past, and is planning to do so again this year. She has a blog where she shows what the events are like and which works she will have on display or sell online in correlation with the event.

This year’s Miniature Art Show will be held around December in Ginza, Tokyo if you’re interested in seeing them in person! Check the official Twitter account for the event for updates.

And make sure to also follow Yuri on Twitter to keep up with her work!
