Introducing Nagashima Spa Land
Established in 1966, Nagashima Spa Land can be found in south Mie Prefecture. It is a globally ranked amusement park with more than 5 million visitors every year since 2013. As a result, it has since 2013 been ranked in the Top 25 Amusement/Theme Parks Worldwide and Top 20 Amusement/Theme Parks Asia-Pacific.
Aside from its outdoor amusement park featuring more than 40 rides, it also has a huge water park that is one of the biggest in Japan. A great way to end the day on all these thrilling rides is a hot spring soak in Yuami no Shima, a hot spring facility nearby.

Steel Dragon 2000
At 2.48km track length, the Guinness World Record holder for the longest roller coaster (absolute) is the Steel Dragon 2000. Unveiled in the Year of the Dragon, this behemoth of a ride lives up to its name. As the ride reaches its peak point at almost 100 meters skyhigh, you can get a clear sight of the Nagashima and even Nagoya areas.

Flying Coaster Acrobat
The first of its kind in Japan, the Acrobat is frequently mentioned to be a clone of SeaWorld Orlando’s famous Manta ride. With spiraling corkscrew turns, a blue water pool beneath, and fountains gushing water as you pass, it’s a thrilling ride that combines the ocean and the sky.

Hybrid Coaster Hakugei
First of its kind not just in Japan but in the Asia continent is Hakugei, or White Whale. Built in 2018, it replaced the previous iconic world largest wooden roller coaster, the White Cyclone. It is called a Hybrid Coaster because it is made from a combination of wood and steel. With a complex track layout and 360° turns, it’s sure to get you screaming.

Aurora Giant Ferris Wheel
A cliche but always good romantic finale, or a relaxing final ride for the day, would be the Aurora Ferris Wheel. Enjoy a great view of Ise Bay, Suzuka Mountains, and the Chita Peninsula from its peak. The ride is made extra special and romantic during the night illumination.

Jumbo Ocean Water Pool (Summer Only)
Also known as Nagashima Spa Land Water Park or Joyful Waterpark, is one of the largest water parks in Japan. It has 10 water slides, 5 kids-friendly playgrounds, a gigantic swimming pool, several mid-sized ones, and the world’s biggest JAPAAAAN water playground. Most interestingly, the water used in this park is purified sea water.
Yuami no Shima
A great way to end an exhausting thrilling day at the amusement park and water park is a nice hot soak in Yuami no Shima, aka Nagashima Onsen. The building has 3 floors in total:

Access to Nagashima Spa Land
Since Nagashima Spa Land is a popular tourist spot for those visiting Nagoya, we will cover how to get there from Nagoya. There are two bus route options, one from Nagoya Station’s Meitetsu Bus Center and the other from Sakae Station’s Sakae Bus Terminal:
From Meitetsu Bus Center
Take the bus heading to Nagashima Onsen for 1,100 yen. The bus will make 4 stops including Nabano no Sato before reaching its destination in approx. 1 hour.
From Sakae Bus Terminal
Take the direct bus towards Nagashima Onsen for 1,100 yen. This is a non-stop bus that will complete the journey in less than 1 hour.

Nagashima Spa Land
- Opens at 9:30, closing hours vary between 16:00~18:00.
- Typically closes at 17:00.
- Last entry 1 hour before closing time.
