18,000 Facebook and Instagram users report outages

 At the height of the outage early in the morning of February 9, Facebook users reported more than 11,000 incidents and Instagram users reported around 7,000.

On February 9, Meta said that Meta's Facebook and Instagram social networks were back up and running for most users after a short period of downtime, adding that a technical problem disrupted the translation. The cases of thousands of people have been solved.

"A technical issue made it difficult for some people to access our products. We resolved the issue as quickly as possible," a Meta spokesperson told Reuters.

According to the outage tracking website Downdetector.com, at the height of the early morning outage, Facebook users reported more than 11,000 incidents and Instagram users reported around 7,000.

Downdetector tracks outages by collating status reports from a number of sources, including user-submitted errors on the platform.

As of 8:30 a.m. local time this morning, the number of outages has dropped to 11 incidents for Instagram and 81 for Facebook.

Users also reported problems with Facebook's online messaging service Messenger.
