Nebulas, galaxies, and countless stars spread out in a glass ball like marble is SpaceGlass, a dazzling creation born from the idea of giving shape to “people’s universes”.

Space in the Palm of Your Hand, SpaceGlass by +α

Have you ever wanted to own a universe?

SpaceGlass, a glass ball containing a universe and galaxy, is the creation of glass artisan Satoshi Tomizu who creates and sells them under the brand +α (@plusalpha_glass). Within the tiny universe are planets, countless stars, nebulas and swirls all trapped in glass. Raise it up to the light, and the galaxy sparkles in your fingers. From every angle, as the light hits, is a new never-ending experience that enchants you.

Endless Beauty & Adventure in SpaceGlass

Each SpaceGlass is made by hand, so each one is unique. A burner is used to combine the various layers that make up the galaxy, from opals for the planets, gold and silver for the swirling nebulae, and high density heat resistant glass to hold it all together.

Despite being made of glass, the SpaceGlass is resilient and also lightweight, which makes it suitable as an accessory for everyday wear. You can wear it as a pendant with a leather cord or metal chain, or as a bracelet.

Born in Kanagawa prefecture in 1980, Satoshi Tomizu’s journey of glassworking began in May 2008 when he discovered and began exploring the field of heat-resistant glass accessories. In 2015, he won the Grand Prize for J-WAVE Atelier Nova Design Award, and started the brand +α PlusAlpha a year later.

White Opal

Light always shines from within the darkness.

The white opal as the focus in the dark universe is one of the most classic SpaceGlass pieces.

Black Opal

Cloaked in mystery.

In contrast, the Black Opal gives off a mysterious and alluring aura that begs for people to explore its depths.

Spaceglass Orb

Planets with rings are stunning.

The image is self-explanatory. The rings surrounding the planet adds on to its exquisite beauty.

Flower HANA

Delicate semi-transparent petals.

A 3D flower encased in glass. Spin-off from PlusAlpha’s usual space-themed series, the flower series is no less beautiful. Depending on the lighting and background, the flower gives off a different hue, so enjoy it in various angles and different settings.
