Twitter’s Logo Is Now Japanese Shiba Inu Kabosu-chan, Better Known as “Doge”

Twitter is trending again following the sudden change of its logo from the blue bird to “Doge” causing a stir among Twitter users that the system might be acting up. Shiba Inu dogs are very familiar in Japan. Did you know that the global trend and meme “Doge” originated from a famous Shiba Inu? And its name is “Kabosu-chan!”

On the morning of April 4, 2023, Twitter users accessing Twitter via the website were surprised to find that the familiar blue bird logo had turned into a Shiba dog. Did the Twitter system get hacked or is it buggy? 

After reading this Tweet by Elon Musk, the new owner of Twitter, people started to laugh. The Tweeted photo features Doge being stopped by the traffic police and having his ID checked. The photo is obviously different, to which Doge explains, “That’s an old photo.”

So what’s the reason for Elon Musk to change Twitter’s logo from the blue bird to Doge? 

Elon Musk revealed that it was a follow-up from a Twitter conversation with @WSBChairman last year, where he had suggested that Elon Musk buy Twitter and change the bird logo to a doge. 

And just like that, Elon Musk really did do it!

Who is Doge? Meet Famous Japanese Shiba Inu, Kabosu-chan!!

Meet Kabosu-chan, the face of Doge! 

Kabosu-chan is a Shiba Inu who was adopted from the animal shelter in 2008 by Atsuko Sato, 51, a kindergarten teacher in Japan. Kabosu-chan is 1 of 19 puppies abandoned after a breeding farm closed down. 

Kabosu-chan became famous thanks to Atsuko-san’s personal blog where she regularly posts photos of Kabosu-chan. Kabosu-chan became world famous after she posted this series of photos on February 13, 2010.

Kabosu-chan’s adorableness caught the eye of netizens and became a meme which everyone is now familiar with. It was then used as a symbol for Elon Musk’s “Dogecoin” cryptocurrency, further increasing Kabosu-chan’s worldwide fame. 

Kabosu-chan is now 17 years old. Its birthday is on November 2nd, and birthday party celebration on October 17, 2022. Now, the famous Shiba Inu is enjoying a chill life with mama Atsuka Sato-san and cat friends at home. 

DogeCoin Price Rises Over 30%

Ever since Elon Musk changed Twitter’s logo from the blue bird to Doge, Dogecoins trading price has increased at about 0.10 USD per token, which is the highest since early February. 

The price of Dogecoin has been rising in line with Elon Musk’s activities since he acquired Twitter. ANd, had risen again after Elon Musk announced that Tesla and SpaceX would accept Dogecoins as payment. Binance, the world’s leading blockchain ecosystem and largest digital asset exchange, also reported on the effects of Twitter’s logo change. 

Dogecoin’s page on CoinMarketCap indicates that Dogecoin rose to rank 8 of the most valuable cryptocurrency with a market cap of more than 13 billion USD.
